Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? but out of your options, i definitely like the Felt. Think they did a good job with the old-timey-esque track aesthetic as well. like the looks of it quite a bit actually, well comparatively to your other options. I still think the bianchi pista via condotti is probably the nicest off the shelf steel track/SS bike out there in terms of quality and overall looks. I really like the Felt's looks, but like the bianchi's far more. because looks are everything lol....well both seem to have good components so yah

My cost would actually be a lot higher if I were to build a custom bike, and the most customizing I'll do right away with the selection's components are: Saddles with the Bianchis, brakes for the Felt (I use them), drops for the Jamis.

This isn't my preforming bike either (look at signature), 33.3% of the time it'll be ridden down town to the bar with friends at night, 33.3% will be going to the cafe with my computer to enjoy a caffeine buzz, the other 33.3% will be commuting to work or going to the store. If I were to get a preforming single speed, I'd get a Fuji Track 1.0, Jamis Sonik, or Felt Footprint.

P.S. Bianchi's markups are within 10% of profit margins of every other brand I sell. Don't ask how much though, because I won't tell.

And I didn't put that one up because I'm not a fan of the asthetics of it. Too much Celeste for me.

Felt is nice but if you run a brake on it, you will mess those nice faux-wood rims.
The blue and wood is pretty but maybe a touch feminine?

The Sputnik looks the next most interesting. Since you are going to use it SS instead of fixed, having both brakes would be a better idea and looks like the Sput is so equipped.

Don't like the unicrown fork on the Pista.

We have a Jamis dealer by campus. I've checked the Sputnik out but never rode it. They seem to be quality bikes, components and all. If I had to use anything from Jamis, it would be the Sonik frame. Dat seat tube......

Just avoid hiten with the Beatnik. Or don't. Its definitely a lot cheaper.

Those first 3 bikes are crying for quill stems. I hate the looks of a svelte lugged fork with a bulky threadless stem.

/get off my lawn.

No bike in production today needs a threaded headset/quill stem.

My Handsome is custom. I want to fit a stereotype! Wait, I have a mustache. I have tattoos. Oh snap! I AM A STEREOTYPE. The almost 40 former U.S. Navy stereotype. Damn, so close to hipsterdom. So. Close.

I don't have facial hair, but I would if I could. I have tattoos. I like indie and folk rock, as well as just about every genre, even the ironic ones. I wear properly/tighter fitting clothes. I rock a Macbook Air. I ride a brakeless fixed gear. I do lots of drugs. I'm a student. I don't believe in god. I think all of these things are intrinsically sweet in themselves. The fact that a lot of people stereotype me into a group annoys me, but not enough for me to conform to nonconformism.

Basically, I would consider myself a hipster for my own reasons. I do these things just because I like them, not because other like-minded individuals are doing them. I realize I've been overly critical in the past for group thinkers, but now, I realize there is no reason to spread the hate. Just ignore them and let them make themselves look like fools. And wait for your interests to become "old" or "over". Then watch the hipsters follow the trends, religiously.

edit: Yes, I am operating on heavy amounts of coffee. I drink that **** black. Sue me.
