My sweetie and I did 50.9 miles on the '82 Peugeot tandem today. Full length and back of the Cape Code Rail Trail and part of the Old Colony Rail Trail. Temps in the high 30's, low 40's, ending at 41F. Got hit by a snow squall at the end. VERRRRRRY WINDYYYYY!

Since today was sort of warm with temperatures in the upper 40's, I decided to go for a short ride along the C&O Canal towpath on the Hercules Royal Imperial I got for my friend in England. I needed to put a chain on the bike, shorten the shifter cable which was a good 6 inches too long and removed the rear brake. Anyway, while this wasn't a long ride (it was only around 8 miles), it was a nice ride nonetheless.

Stopped at mile marker 56.

My turnaround point for the ride at Lock 31 on the C&O Canal towpath.

That looks like a very nice trail Jim. I'm going to have to check that out next time I'm in the area. Your stoker looks happy!

This was yesterday and...

this was today. We got rain, hail, snow in the morning and sun shine in the afternoon. Got to love the Pacific Northwest weather.

I squeezed in a 42 mile ride this afternoon. High 40, a sunny,breezy day.

A tough little hill on the way out.

Town pound from 1845 in Foster.

I can't resist riding a few miles on some dirt road connectors.

50 miles yesterday in pretty impressive Jim, The wind was really whipping here in RI, I bet it was out on the Cape too.

Thank you. It was breezy. The Boston Globe reported the Cape and the Islands had 60mph gusts. Fortunately most of the CCRT is in woods. Any section along the edge of a lake was tough though.

I was gonna' ask where Foster, RI was, but then I just looked it up on a map. Over by Connectthedots, I see. That's pretty hilly country over there. Should have been a nice ride. Very inviting pics.

Just to the gas station a couple of times and the restaurant to pick up some lunch for the wife.

Looking at this thread makes me feel really lame for not getting out and putting on a few dozen miles.

What an awesome thread. Wonderful pictures.
The first photo is from a short coffee break on last weekends ride. We are all riding 650b conversions and the ride was a mix of dirt roads and pavement totalling about 80 miles. The temperature was in the high 30's mostly.
The second is at the beginning of a long climb.
Not bad for Maine in February.

Three 650b bicycles at rest

I had ambitious plans to go long and new for today's ride, but it turned out that I only had a couple of hours instead of all day, so I made the most of it and went on an old favorite ride. I did go the opposite direction around the loop to mix it up a bit.

Scituate Reservoir loop

45 degrees and a steady 20-30 mph wind. I was in the 39 most of the way out and the 52 most of the way back. 37 mile ride. This is a pretty popular route for riders here in RI. Hilly and rural.

Causeway on 14, looking back east

view of Scituate reservoir North of causeway

my bike

I'm trying to get used to the frame pump. It is practical, but aesthetically not so great.

Gainer dam on 12 going home

view south of dam

north of dam (There were white caps)

Thanks for posting Chuckk! My De Rosa is a TSX from the same era!

I rode 40 miles today. It was 45F, overcast then sunny.

Still winter in the woods

We started in Tacoma and rode to Rainier and back. Total 86 miles and about half of that were head wind. First time I use this bike for more than 50 miles. It lacks stiffness on acceleration, but it didn't beat me up too much.

Last week I was riding a department store mountain bike in the Tonto National Forest in Arizona, this week I rode the central MA rollers on an Eddy Merckx MX Leader. Both rides were spectacular and gorgeous. Happy to visit Arizona, happy to live (near) Central MA.

I bet you can't guess which pictures relate to which location...

Used to go here after little league games when I was a little guy so we had to stop for hot dogs when we passed by...they were delicious and worth it even though they didn't sit too well.

Since much of my weekend was consumed with trying to figure out why my fairly new water heater had gone south, I did not have an opportunity to throw a leg over any bike Saturday or Sunday. Today the supply house was open and I could finally buy my part, so I fixed the water heater and then had some free time this afternoon. As such, my mind turned toward the C&O Canal but not before I did a short ride on pavement from Brunswick to Knoxville. After crossing the tracks and getting on the towpath, I realized that I was up for a longer ride than I originally planned. Ultimately, I rode 25 miles and had a great time on the Norman Rapide that is currently on loan to me from forum member rhm.

I rode today but not to anywhere you (plural) would be interested in. I did my first bike commute of the year, 25 miles round trip. Actually, it's tri-modal. Car from home to the rt128 train station, commuter train with the bike to Attleboro, then bike over to work. It was an excellent day, almost. Most of the roads still have sand all over the shoulder, a remnant of the snow that mostly never happened this year. Still, it was a pleasant way to get to work. A bad day on the bike is better than a good day at work!

With my work schedule, temperatures and other commitments- I just haven't been able to ride much at all. Sunday was the first day I've been out for any more than a spin around the neighborhood. It was embarrassingly short and it kicked my tail.

As an aside- once it gets warm enough- I hope to be back to commuting by bike- unfortunately- as my ride Sunday attested to- I'm out of shape and that ride was just a little more than my one way distance to work...

My girlfriend and I made the 5.5 hour drive to the NE Kingdom of VT (East Burke) to partake in Winterbike 2012. We had an amazing time, and took advantage of the remaining snow and did a lot of XC skiing as well.

For those not familiar with the Kingdom Trails, it's a network of over 50 private landowners who let you use their property. It's a sick (in a good way) XC trail network in the warm months. Winterbike took place on some of the wider trails, groomed in perfect corduroy for us.

There was a beginner ride, intermediate ride, studded tire ride, and a fat bike ride.

Since I wanted a good ride, but didn't have studded tires, I did the intermediate ride for about 2 hours total.

Good people, perfect weather, and the refreshments were awesome.

Courtesy of https://singlespeedslog.wordpress.com...nterbike-2012/

And, a couple of the other winter sports we went to do

My lady leading the way back to the Inn:

Me making the ascent up Heavens Bench to sled down. It was all ice and very fast

You're right, I'm having a difficult time telling which is MA and which is AZ. Nonetheless, it looks like you had some nice rides atmo!

I rode to the doctor's office and back. Stopped and hung out at the LBS on the way back. It's about 7 miles each way, and his office is on the top of a serious hill in a town called SUMMIT. They ain't kidding. And I was late, so I rode like heck. I'm sore! But it's good. Either I'm getting stronger or my age allows me the illusion of getting stronger.

I did a little bridge ride this morning back and forth across the Grand River, downtown Grand Rapids. This is still my favorite, the historic 6th Street Bridge, built in 1886.

Rode the length of the Norwottuck Rail Trail from Amherst to Northampton and back. That's first time I've been on this one, and it's quite a nice ride. Very busy today - it was an exceptionally nice day. (Though in this picture the trail looks empty!)

This station is actually on another trail in Northampton; someday I've got explore the rest of them.
