Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Q-Factors?

Hi folks,

Got a full bike fit yesterday and apparently my stance is ridiculously narrow so I need to bring my feet in considerably. Does anyone know the Q-factors on the following compact cranks (all current model years): Specialized S-Works OSBB and SRAM Force/Red BB30.

I'm also considering the FSA SL-K Light BB30, which has a Q-factor of 147mm.

If anyone has dealt with this fit issue, please share how you addressed it. My cleats are as far in as possible. Another option is to look for pedals with a short spindle length, but I'm most interested in a new crank! Really appreciate it!

sram's published number is 146mm, but in reality everyone measures them at 150mm.

I do not know the Specialized crank. Cannondale Hollowgram Si are 145mm.

I would address this with pedal spindle length since you said 'considerably'. you can only gain 5-8mm with cranks and it's more expensive than pedals.

your cleats should be as far out laterally as possible.

heh, good point. I assume the OP erred when he wrote that his cleats are as far in as possible.

obviously, placing the cleat outbound moves your foot in.

Ah, yes! My mistake: feet in, cleats out!
