Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Specialized Roubaix 2010 Price? Good deal?

Hey guys! I put a 2010 Specialized Roubaix on hold for today, for pick up on Monday. Before I complete the purchase, I wanted to make sure that I'm getting a good deal. It has full 105 and it looks like it has been taken on a few test drives as the tires look dirty. I'm paying $700.00. Is that a good deal?

Thanks a bunch guys!

Holy cow, that is a smoking deal. Does it come from an authorized Specialized retailer with the full warranty?

Yep! It is an authorized specialized dealer! And my exact words as I was leaving were " and the warranty is the same as any other new bike purchase?" and he said yep!

Great deal. The frameset would probably be worth that alone!

Sounds like a good deal - which model was it? I wouldn't worry about the tires, but if you think there have been miles on it, I'd check the drivetrain (cogs/chain) and rims for signs of wear.

Yeah, if the tires are worn make sure you check the drivetrain. My last bike had been on a few test rides and the tires had a couple of mikes on them. After I got the bike home the chain kept slippin on longer rides. I had to take it back 2 times to get the issue fixed.

Wow, that's a deal! Look at what a 105 groupset alone would cost. If it fits, move quickly.

some 2010 model 105 groupsets are 5600, but regardless , it is still a good deal.

If it's any comfort to you, I bought a 2007 roubaix bare frame/fork for $500 (earlier this year) and I thought *that* was a great deal.

Get it and ride it like you stole it.

Sweet! Thanks guys! I'll post a pic when I get home. I suspect one of the reasons I hasn't sold is because the color is weird (for my taste) blue...

How do I check the drive train to make sure everything is ok?
What else should I check for?
