sram red shifter problems - please help

i am at the end of my rope here. i've used shimano forever and decided to buy a red kit for a new road bike. while putting it together i have run into issues with EVERYTHING. nothing is working right, fitting right, or doing what it should.

any way, i finally got to the shifters after almost 7 hours of f#cking with this bike and i realized the shift lever was basically skipping through all the gears when trying to shift to a lower one. it's hard to describe so i took the hood and side cover off and shot a vid. there's no way this can be how it is supposed to be but i've never used sram stuff so i don't know if the cable is in there wierd or what.

if anybody could help i'd greatly appreciate it. i have built all kinds of bikes and never had any problems like i have with this bike and the sram stuff. i am so frustraded i cannot ever describe it. if i have to send this shifter back i'm going to be furious.

well, i somewheat reverse engineered the shifter and realized it was sent to me with the der cable installed completely wrong. i removed it, routed it correctly, and it appears to be working ok as is my heart because my bp has to be 200! so if anybody else ever has this problem and comes across this thread - it looked fine but the cable was wrapped around the mechanism wrong cause it not to pull.
