I've always liked this Sunshine forged stem (which looks like a Cinelli 1A). It belonged to my Dad - I'm guessing it's a early '70's model. I would love to find one that's 120mm.

An AVA French stem that I'll never use but can't seem to let go of.

GB's are always classy.

I can't believe you have one of these. I have an 80mm. I've never seen another until now.

I didn't realize these were uncommon. I currently have two. One I found on a Nishiki Competition and the other on my Ron Kit--the former with a nut and the latter with threading directly into the stem.

This is an early Nitto "Young" or something like that, that looks a bit like the Cinelli 1A. Got it on an impulse one dollar bid.

+1 on Nittos. I have a Specialized branded Nitto that has spent time on almost every bike I've owned.

I also have and have been using a Modolo X-Eras stem with X-Tenos bar which I bought in the late '80s.

I like the Cinelli 1A a lot (as well as the Nittos), and bought a 1A and Cinelli bars to replace these, but haven't used them yet. I've never had a problem with the Modolo stem, but did note their reputation as a "death" stem.

My holy grail bike at this point would be a Dick Power track bike with the Reynolds 531 "Toni Merkin" stem by GB:

But any GB 531 stem would do. What's better than 531?

The "limp dick" stem is/was nothing if not unique. That's CR-list lingo, not that a normal person would call it that!

I like those swoopy Italian stems from the early 1990's. Pure art.

I am a fan of the Lambert/Viscount/Viking(?) stem (never seen in any size other than 10cm w/25.4 clamp).

About those Shimano (Nitto) AX stems with the hidden bolts, the one's I've had are usually labeled 26.0mm, but fit a Cinelli or Ambrosio (26.4mm) bar perfectly.
Maybe that's why they tend to creek with 26.0mm bars?

I have also polished SR Custom stems and others, and have filed/sanded many a stem for a custom fit to a French bike's steerer. It's usually a fairly difficult removal of, at most, .05mm(.002") or less from the quill's surface. That's hard aluminum!

I have spent time looking for the long (~110mm) version of the "Compe Forged" stems (in .833"/21.1mm diameter) for Schwinn Super-Sports, and found two so far at very low cost.

The Nitto "Specialized" pearl-ano stem that's on my twitchy 1975 PX10 is superbly solid (much needed on this bike when "honking" out of the saddle), and it's custom-fit to the French 22.0 steerer with not a trace of freeplay.

This 9cm BF (Belleri-Franco) stem on the Gitane below was needed for it's longer reach, French diameters and vintage look. I had to buy a $15 W.German gaspipe bike to get it, but it polished up wonderfully with it's spherical bar clamp and shapely features.

I have an SR stem with a very beautiful oval cross-section on the horizontal part... Don't know what the model is (it's unmarked other then SR), but it's a beauty! Lot's of 1A love from me as well. The quill stem that defines the whole concept. Those Modolo stems are ugly, and in my case way off tolerance so very scratchy to the poor bars mated to them. Besides that, the rubber and paint gets really ugly.

This city bike bar and stem combination is marked "Luxe". I got it from Belgium. That's all I know.

Lot's of drool factor in both those photos.

The Shimano stems are my favorite for me, very nicely made and beautiful. I am using a Dura Ace on my Nagasawa, with matching Dura Ace handelebars.
Also the 3ttt record 84 is nice.

My Nagasawa with the Dura Ace stem (and handlebar), the only Shimano parts, everything else is Campagnolo:

And my Duell with the 3ttt Record 84 stem, the white line is a small scratch:
