Why pass...?
When they were on sale from BTD, I ordered a pair (27x1) & when I got them mounted, I thought they were humungous. I'm sending them back. The two larger sizes must be way huge? Instead, found a pair of older Specialized Turbo S 27x1's that have a slimmer profile to replace what I previously had on the rims.

We've got so used to undersized tires that accurately sized ones look freakish.
Thanks for the heads_up, this is a total steal.

I did a search on their site for Panaracer. They have lots of good tires at really good sale prices.

Am i missing something here? It doesn't seem like there's really much room to save money on Paselas since they're already quite affordable.
700x32c non-tourguards are on sale $16; they're $20 just about everywhere, so that's a 20% savings... but it's still only $8 total if you're doing one bike.

You're missing the fact that this is a significant amount to save for some of us.

Touche +1 - Treating myself to a couple new tires is a big deal. Price is a big factor. My bikes usually are equipped with the best I can salvage from my flip bikes. Right now I am running on some pretty thin tread on 20 year old tires.

You're not kidding. They cost me $20 a pop at cost for me before I quit the bike shop? Forget trying to sell them for the full price of $40 each we charged for them. I'm not saying they aren't worth it, but?,,,,BD

I was able to buy a big box full of the 27X1's from Nashbar last year for literally $9 each.
These are actually just as wide as the Turbo Sport tires which were labeled 27X1-1/4, which is to say about 26mm after sitting inflated overnight at 90psi.
These tires have fragile sidewalls, but the wrap-around "dead weight" tread cap does offer some protection to the sidewall area in some situations where abrasion damage might occur.
I would descride the tread cap as suitable for a hybrid bicycle's tires, and would further describe the 1-1/4" wide version as actually a hybrid-type tire, measuring a true 32mm wide, just like most other brand's 35mm hybrid tires would measure.
As such, these tires should handle dirt roads better than typical road-tread tires, even the 1" version.
They sure don't look like the racing tires that many are looking to replace though.

UK-based ebay sellers can be a good source for Canadian buyers (I remember picking up some Conti Ultra Sports for $20/piece shipped from one prolific ebay seller, OK tires), and those large web retailers I just mentioned may still be cheaper than your LBS or their US equivalents when taking shipping into account.
Not sure about the Paselas specifically - beyond being able to tell you that a pair would run you about 45GBP shipped from chainreactioncycles, or $70 Canadian (or American, since they're almost exactly at par these days). I'm sure you can find cheaper trolling ebay or at one of the other online stores, but I can't tell you which one.
Could be more helpful, I know
