ive heard of some people hear filing down small amounts from the inside of the arms, not sure if that is applicable in your situation.

Your LBS must really be on top of things. Do they have access to a computer?

Most likely you got an older model. I also got this crankset few weeks ago and the box was clearly labeled as a 2012 model.
Comparing it to older models' pictures posted here, it appears that spider arms (inner side) have been significantly reduced in thickness, almost by half. It worked just fine with a Fetish Attack frame and I'm pretty confident it would work on most frames unlike the older style.
I can see why some believe the arms to be "over-engineered" and willing to take a file if its just few mm needed for clearance.

Did they make the spider thicker for 2012? I've got two sets of Omniums - an old set from when they first came out and a black pair from maybe 2011 and I've never had clearance issues on my T1, Big Block, or Steamroller. I'm also apparently one of the few people that run GXP bottom brackets/cranksets without any problems (cyclocross, track and road bikes all have Sram cranksets, never any premature bearing failure or bottom bracket creaks). Knock on wood, I guess.
