Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It seems like 2 of your bikes have the saddle nose pointing slightly upward, while the other 2 point slightly downward. Am I seeing that right or is that just the angle of the pics?

Time trial bike may be angled slightly upward, others are all level. Saddle on tt has been replaced with an Adamo so it no longer has a saddle with a nose on it.

Seems like it would be really uncomfortable to use the drops with them pointing down like that?

Nope, feel perfect. I actually prefer the slight angle, seems more natural to me and my wrists. Plus, it keeps the tops level going to the hoods. My hands are rarely in that position anyway, spend much more time in the curves of the drops so I can access the brakes while riding in a paceline (in case of emergency).

New bike, 2012 Scott CR 1 Team picked it up on Saturday, not really set up yet (just a quick fit in the store). The GoPro mount is just being tried out, it won't live there. Also waiting on new pedals and bottle cages, just put these on there for a quick test ride.

Old bike, 2001-2002 Specialized Allez. Wheels replaced last year otherwise it's stock.

I dig it. Seems like the new trend is a pitched top tube. Can anyone explain why this is?

Soem updates were done:

Cannondale got new group - 5700. Shifters, crankset, rear derailleur.
Wheelset is next.

Fuji got 6600 shifters, full carbon fork, Sprint 350 wheels, WSC seatpost and 111 gramm stem. It shaved-off almost 2.5 lbs. It is 16.6 now.
Probably not the lightest but the lightest I ever had.

My wife's bike got 6500 shifters, rear derailleur...as a result of the upgrades above
Looking for light wheelset for her bike.

I think I read that it's because manufacturers don't have to make so many different frame sizes, i.e. each size can fit a wider range of people. I think.

Hope you enjoy the Scott as much as I do mine. Im going to try out my K-Edge for the GoPro I got for xmas tommorrow. As for the "pitched tube" I believe its so you can have a longer head tube for a more comfortable riding position also.

Here's mine - crappy picture

Finally got the original rear hub laced to a new rim (original rim was a taco when I got the bike - I had been running a spare rear wheel since I owned it).

Back to a complete set of 105!

Trek 1400. Not sure what year.

Yes, it's probably a bit big on me... but it works for now.

Sorry for the poor iPhone picture.
