So sorry, so tragic. Though I knew him not my heart aches for your loss. I tell my wife and kids, in all seriousness, if I do not return from my ride due to some tragic accident, mourn me not, I would have died doing what I truly love in life.
Nevertheless for those that remain we can only go on missing the loved ones we have lost no matter their mindset in death.

I have a bad, very bad news...Ed passed away on February 6, sudden death, his heart ruptured after 3 miles run. We are all in shock and I know how often he would come to this forum and spend evenings sharing his dearest love to the bikes.
You all know what bikes he has and i want to ask your advice which onces should we sell and for how much and which ones to keep for his son (he is 3 now) and for memory. I am so sorry to bring this news.....

Regarding the bikes: I would ask his riding friends and local bike shop for their assessment. Two components: present and future value in terms of dollars. And then, value in terms of uniqueness of the particular model. Some bike models have a cult following.
Regarding your son: Its your call, not his. Even then, guys like fun stuff and bikes are definitely fun. It might take a 10 or 12 year holding period before he realizes what Daddy really liked. Your finances trumps the sentimentality. But if you can, hang the bikes in the garage roof.

Please accept my condolences and prayers. I did not have many personal interactions with Ed, but he always seemed to be a decent guy with a lot of stuff to share. We will miss him in here for sure.

Thanks very much to the administrators and moderators for redoing Ed's Avatar line to the memorial. That is a nice touch, I am sure he would appreciate the thoughts and prayers expressed here. I hope these help Mrs, Lena get through this terrible time, just a little bit easier.

You need time to heal and get used to the new, different way life will be from now on so unless there is a compelling reason to do otherwise, leave the bikes alone for a while and revisit the issue after at least the first anniversity.

Sorry to hear of your loss.
On the bikes- I'd say sell them if you can do so without just giving them away. There's a good chance your child won't be especially interested in them (or in cycling in general), if left unused for years, they become a chore to fix up, and if they're reasonably late models, they'll decline in value in the meantime...
