Nice! I remember when you missed one a few months back. Glad to see you picked this up.

Edit: What's an old skinny guy like you doing with all these young bikes anyway?

Ha, that is because I have, and always did have, good dam taste!! In addition, I hang with everything young, never growing up...

I am going to snag one of the Techniums too.
cool thanks for the reply - i think i am similar in my feeling about the kleins
i like the raleigh racingusa series as well
the technium suprised me - and kinda got me interested in vintage aluminum
ever since i started to move away from steel in the collection
though i still enjoy the steel as well
my super course was an early 70s cottered version
a wonderfully comfortable ride
as i mentioned - they are both gone from the herd
in fact - the technium was a tough one to sell
majorly undervalued imo

Nice looking bike! What a great find for that price. I have the same crank that for an 1984 Raleigh Super Course but I do not know the length of the bottom bracket spindle (and it is not on velobase.com). Would you happen to know the spindle length (or would RobbieTunes)? Thanks

I'm sorry, I don't know the spindle length, but I'd guess 113-115mm. Coleman's would barely move when he got it, but it tore down quite easily and I generally put them back together right away before I lose something. Sakae made that crankset, I believe, for Raleigh, and Ofmega used the same style on the Mistral crankset. Ofmega's was a Campy taper, the Sakae is not.

Let's just say I had a few parts lying around. Better on Coleman's bike than mine. He did buy a new saddle, identical to that one, but a Bontrager RXL vs. the present RL. I traded him out, because the RXL had white rails/bottom and the RL had red rails/bottom. The RL matched his bike better, the RXL matched mine. 30g difference.

The clear coat on the stays deteriorated, and the more that comes off, the better the stays look. I've found that simply polishing them every once in a while gradually takes it off, and I stay away from chemical strippers on that.

I can't say enough how smooth that Suntour Sprint friction drivetrain is. Dead quiet.

Raleigh-branded bars with the US Flag engraved.
SR stem
Unsure the headset brand, the cages were toast, so I removed them; nothing in there but new bearings and Mobil 1.
Seatpost is Kalloy
Saddle is Bontrager RL
Calipers (OEM) DC
Brake levers are 105 (1050)
Cables/housing are pure LBS by the foot.
Shifters are Suntour ratcheting.
FD and RD are Suntour Cyclone
Crankset is a Raleigh-branded Sakae CR
BB is Sakae, also.
Pedals are Raleigh branded super-comfy platforms w/toe clips.
Chain is a KMC X.8 (8-sp)
Wheels are Vuelta
Tires are Hutchison Equinox
Rear cassette is a new HG 8-sp
Wrap is SRAM.

The paint is very, very nice, and the chrome will do nothing but get better as the clear coat comes off the stays. The headset clear coat is intact, the fork clear is gone. I suggested silver/black wheels, but Coleman knows what he wants and sent the wheels. I was a bit skeptical until I found the tires in my parts box. Once mounted, all doubt was gone. It was super-fun to build.
