C&V you wish you had never sold.
Mine is an '83 Trek 620, silver and blue.
Bought it new in '83 and spent many solitary hours riding and pondering life as a young man
What bike do you wish you had never sold?

Sold? Sold???? What's this 'sold' thing you speak of? N+1, baby!!!!
Seriously, the only one was an all-steel lowest form of a Fuji (Special Tourer) that I sold to my buddy's sister so I could buy my Fuji S-10S that I still use as my primary bike today! After that, I've acquired a few more - one for the dragstip as a designated 'pit bike', one for going to the corner store, one for the Wife, and now a couple for components for when I find just the right frame...

All I ever had as a kid were dept. store bikes, and the only one I miss is a cool yellow 3-speed I bought from a friend and later traded to some neighborhood kid.

The tubing was Columbus, Cinelli bars and stem, the Campy group was Triomphe with the exception of the seat post which was Super Record.

My wife would agree with you. My argument is that I'm too new to the bike scene to have accumulated enough crap yet.
(btw does that pic not show up for anyone else till you hit the "quote" button?)

My 1978 Trek 710. I sold it when I built my 1981 Trek 720. Learned my lesson; haven't sold a bike since then.

Five years ago I saw an ad on the local CL for a Chris Kvale touring frameset.
It was incorrectly priced and way too low.
I bought it and built it, just as I was renewing my interest in classic Italian racing bikes.
It just sat here until our neighbor told me he wanted a commuter bicycle to get to the university where he taught.
Like a doofus I sold him that beauty for a very low amount.
Every time I see him leave for work, it is a bittersweet moment.
I love the fact it is being used and enjoyed, yet I wish it could be me.

I have been able use my Trek 620 story to shame my wife into allowing me to buy a few really nice bikes..... now that I can afford them

I gave away a Trek 560 I had bought new in '88 when I upgraded to a C'Dale R4000 10 years later. Wish I had never let it go.

'75 (or was it '76?) Eisentraut Limited road bike. Bought the frameset new, raced it for a few years, quit racing (the first of many times) and traded it for a Mondia.
But I DO still have my Rainbow 'Traut (my last racing bike). It's in the basement waiting for a new headtube and a respray.

Yep. I have my 'green monster' Schwinn Woodlands that I ride around the Norwalk pits and nowhere else. We're often pitted over a half-mile from the starting line/concession stands/toilets. That bike is sooooo ugly that nobody would ever even think about stealing it. I might give it a respray when I paint my car - it might get painted to match. It is a beater in every sense of the word.
FWIW, one of my racing buddies uses a 3-wheel 250 Honda ATC for a pit vehicle - but a few years ago he started 'borrowing' my bike. So I garbage-picked a cheapie MTB for him as a pit bike as well. He rides that more than he uses the ATC anymore. I had also gotten an absolutely cherry Sears women's three-speed for the wife at a garage sale for $15. Problem is, wife won't ride a bike, so I picked up a '89 Yamaha G2 gas golf cart with electrical problems (damn squirrels!) for $250. Fixed it. Now I have to find a way to transport that as well... Time for a bigger trailer!

I traded away my first-and-only set of personally handbuilt wheels back in 1979 or 80. I was stuck without money 250 miles from home in the middle of nowhere Indiana when I taco'd the rear wheel on a pothole. Phil Wood hubs, MA2 rims and stainless butted spokes. Very top shelf for back in the day. I traded them off (rear damaged) even-up to a LBS for a set of generic cheapies to get me home. I still kick myself.
