Road -> Tri

Hi,

I currently ride on a felt Z85 56, and i am 5 10 and 145 lbs.

Im looking at doing my first sprint this summer and was wondering if tri bars will help.

I'm not sure which ones would work on my bike, quiet frankly im not too bike savvy!

I found a pair of "Vision Trimax Carbon Aero Bars" for $100 used.

Would they be good for my bike, and would they be compatible?

Thank you.

I wouldn't suggest it...if you're going with a road bike, look for shorty bars that can clip onto your bars. Going for a full cockpit is NOT a good idea in my opinion. The angles are all wrong. However, if they are in good shape, I'd consider picking them up and starting a TT/Tri bike build if you decide you want to continue with it.

Thanks for the feedback!

Would something like this work? It weights 378g, would that be too much?

Thanks.

I don't know that I would even worry about tri bars for a sprint. Just use the drops and you don't even have to worry about the extra weight. Maybe if you move into the Olympic or Half distance it would be beneficial, but it depends. Good luck on the sprint! What are the distances?

Thanks! It's a 25k bike distance.

25k will be quick, no need for the whole cockpit, just ride your road bike in the drops. at 5'10" 56 is rather large.

just enjoy the experience.
