Yeah, but I've certainly been mad at my dog before. Many times.

dogs are much higher maintenance but they give more in return if you take care of them

cats are more interesting, however

Another way to look at it is having enforceable releases lowers the cost of insurance, and helps us to have affordable racing venues.
As Merlin says, "it depends." But I am doubtful they would accept a modified waiver. They would say take it or leave it; we're not negotiating with every racer for different terms.

So am I wrong about what the indemnity part that I quoted means? Isn't that opening me up to liabilities that I wouldn't otherwise have? Why is part in there, what does it mean?

I don't know. I haven't read the provision and am not going to speculate, especially about a jurisdiction in which I am not licensed to practice.

Silly that we've gotten to the point where you have to have a lawyer go over a waiver so you can race a bike.

This NYT article seems to say that I'm correct in my reading of the indemnity clause and I open myself up to possible liabilities by signing it.

Has anyone tried something similar to this:
https://www.allthingsgym.com/car-poli...scial-release/

TLDR(watch); Using a random orbital car buffer on your muscles to loosen them up. The one that they recommend is only $30, I might have to give it a try.

Installed a Quarq spider on the bike. I like it, but the numbers it shows me suck.

Also trying out some Look Keos to see if they help with some stability issues I've had with my shoes and Speedplays. Color me impressed.

Maybe? I wouldn't qualify most of the things that we do to get faster as necessary though, so one more thing couldn't hurt.

I'm mixed on the deep tissue massaging stuff. I had been going regularly but they seem to have sprung up some old injuries (elbow on one side, shoulder on the other).
I'd rather just waddle most of the time...

Caveat, not licensed in your jurisdiction, not legal advice, consult your own lawyer, yada yada.

That said the intent is for you to indemnify them for anybody claiming through you, as a result of a claim you bring.(ie your insurers). Thats reasonable. However, you shouldn't have to indemnify them from claims brought by 3 rd parties, independent of a claim brought by you.

You'd have to parse the language to opine on whether the clause is over broad.

Practical answer, if you want on the track you're signing it. If you have assets to protect, buy an umbrella policy. If not, don't worry about it.

Mediating a case in Houston today. Mediator is a cyclist. Has a picture of Merckx in his office and an unridden Merckx commerative bike on the wall. Insurance rep and the structure settlement guy both ride.
In fact my insurance rep is doing Dirty Kanza.
First time I've run Across that many people who ride or race in a setting like that.

Sawed up a Reynolds DV46 UL wheel yesterday. Needed a spoke for my carbon clincher; the spoke on the Reynolds would work but I didn't have the right tool for the internal nipple so I used my band saw to cut the rim. Lot of tension in those spokes, quite the snap when the piece let go.

I'm torn between replacing that rim with either the same unit ($450 laced with new spokes) or hunting up an Enve 1.45.

I broke a spoke on my clincher on the gravel section Sunday. The tire on the Reynolds got flatted the week before.

I am still missing part of the story.

So you cut the rim in half to get the spoke out? Isn't that like cutting the chainstay to remove the chain? I'm actually a bit bewildered. I have the Reynolds tool, I even have extra spokes for the DV46s I had (front and rear, full set of spokes, planned on re-lacing the ones I didn't re-lace, did a clincher rear and tubular front, was going to do the tubular rear and clincher front), I'd send you either if you needed them.
