RTC - don't be friends with your ex. It's a bad idea. Clean break is the way to go.

I once pulled out of my driveway and realized I didn't have my bike in the back of my truck.

And a buddy of mine and I drove almost 3 hours to do some riding in the mountains. As we are getting changed, I hear him rummaging around in his bag, when he asked. "You don't have an extra pair of bibs do you?"

We started driving around town, a very small town at that, looking for a bike shop that was open on a Sunday morning. As we passed K-Mart, I suggested we just get him some boxer briefs and he could use a lot of chamois butter. In the end, we found the one shop in town, and the owner just happened to be there doing his books. He let us in and sold my buddy a pair of bibs.

Years ago, a couple of us were driving to a road race. When we got there we realized that Harvard, MA was nowhere near Harvard University ..... d'oh

I would have ridden bare assed - at least I would have had hair shorts...

So this past week was my first week of focused training since I hurt my knee last September. I've been slowly upping my riding, but I had not started doing any focused training.

Anyway, I spent about 11 hours on the bike and 1.5 hours in the gym, and I am completely exhausted today. I could barely get out of bed this morning. I think I may need to adjust my training plan.

I kid I knew in college was proud of his train-jumping skills, he would hop freight trains in Cleveland to go home to Pittsburgh for the weekend. Once he asked some trainyard hobos (yes, there still was such a thing in the 80s, and might still be now for all I know) which was the train to Pittsburgh and they said "that one, hop on quick!"

8 hours later he was in Pittsfield, MA...

Yeah, it's the 'Buckhead diet'.

Got it from my kids school. Apparently it's all the rage in the metro area now. At least my w/kg should increase a touch.

Are you going to make it for the ride on June 15th?

There has been a rash of "cyclist struck from behind" accidents here recently. That particular kind of wreck used to be exceedingly rare. Smartphones and texting really need to be banned.

There's not a single logical reason for me to own this, but that doesn't stop me from wanting it.

https://www.bikesdirect.com/products/...road-bikes.htm

---------------------------------------------------

As far as the killed cyclists thing goes, that was last summer in SoCal. There was something like 4 or 5 dead in maybe 10 miles of Pacific Coast Highway. The time span was a couple weeks, and 2 of the deaths were on consecutive days. In no case did the cyclists do anything except ride their bike. It made me want to vomit when I thought about it.

No. Not her. I haven't seen her for over a year.
This is the more recent one, but also a redhead. Apparently I have a type or something? She was probably depressed here for atleast a few months and I kinda figured but she had to figure her own crap out. I think she's going to start seeing someone for help so I'm glad she's doing that. She wasn't happy with her job in Boston and I've felt like she's just been swimming in place for a few months. Now she has a pretty renewed focus and seems to be looking forward to trying to make a go at working as an Air Hostess for an international airlines and has been finding modeling gigs in the area so she's climbing out of it. It wasn't pretty, but we saw each other through a rough point in both our lives so there was that.

Unlike the other ex, I have nothing but respect for this girl. Things didn't work but so it goes. I wished her the best. I'll probably see her around.

I have never wanted to be friends with an ex before honestly. This is the first time and I want to give it a go. The relationship was so weird for so long because she just felt so caught in the immediacy of everything that I didn't even really feel like we were together. So seeing her again and talking was good, but it didn't feel weird. We spent a good two hours alone in my apartment and there was no tension so that seemed to be a good sign.

Le sigh. I'm having one of those days where I'm annoyed/frustrated with work. I wish I could play hickey the rest of the day and just go for a ride.

You and me both. I'm just not in the mood. I'm gonna leave early to spend some time with the wife and finish painting the front door/trim.
