Matching brand for helmet, jersey, and shorts?
I'm choosing between two helmets that I both like and fit my criteria with regards to price, style, etc. The only difference is brand, color, and shape. They both look good and have a nice design so I'm choosing between them.
Would you match your helmet brand to your jersey and short's brand? I know it doesn't need to match but given the choice, should they match?

Depends on which side of the fence you are trying to please. Once you get out of high school, things usually change.

*Shoes gloves and helmet brand DO have to match(socks too)
*Pants and jersey do have to match as well Colorwise, brand and nationality.
*Your shoes should match your pedals, Colorwise.
*Your gloves should match your bartape, Colorwise.
* your sunglasses should match your Road ID wrist band
* Your GPS should match your HRM.
* Your wheels should match your seatpost
* Your saddle your handle bar tape.
etc. Cycling is the most fashionable sport out there. People like Freddy Mercury and Elton John should be your reference point when you think about bicycles.

I have multiple bikes so that I can wear different color gear and not clash with my bike. I accidentally brought my Specialized bibshorts on travel with me and brought the Parlee Z2, so I had to stop by the LBS and pick up an S-Works Venge and get it painted taupe to match my gear so I didn't look out of place while cycling.

Bike, shoes, sox and helmet all one brand. Gloves and glasses another brand. Bibs are all PI, but jerseys are all different brands.

Barney. The shape of the inside of the helmet is what matters. Not the shape and style of the outside. The more rounded the outer is though, the less pointy protrusions, the better in terms of safety performance, though.
The bottom line is that not all helmets fit the same shape of skull. Try it on and make sure it is sized correctly when it's adjusted properly tight. Most people buy too big.

The only person that is going to know the brands are the same is you, I could care less if you match let alone what you are wearing or for that fact what you ride and the hardware on your bike is not important to me. I'm out to ride not worry about what others are riding or wearing.

Pictures of said helmets would be nice so we can provide maximum approval and criticism.
In general, double lettering is not cool, triple lettering is even worse.
Compound that with cycling spandex, and the style police will deport you.
The only outfit that is allowed to match involves an Adidas jumpsuit (preferably velour or shiny satin), but you have to be a rapper or mafia to really pull it off.
Seriously, I would just get the loudest color helmet to keep cars from driving over you.

Consider red. Red is fast.

I'm a fred. My helmet colors match my frames. But, I find myself wearing the white helmet more and more. For visibility reasons mainly. I'll only buy white helmets from now on.

Maybe you should join a team or a club - then everything will match.

You don't want to be a Fred.
From what I've been able to glean, Fred can mean slightly different things, but in this context refers to someone with much more expensive gear than their talent / skill / experience warrant. It can also refer to a green cyclist in general. I just go with it, and nick-named my Road bike Fred.
