I figured it makes more sense to post this here...My first 40 mile ride...My typical loop is 28, but I wanted to stretch it. Mountain bike, 26" Hopefully I'll be buying a road bike, and Italian road bike, in the Fall:

Number 1) props for pushing your limit
#2 ) if / when you get a road bike (and your tail gets used to the seat), i'd be willing to say you could do 50 miles.

Thank you...I did 28 yesterday:

https://www.mapmyride.com/workout/343173639

and today I think I'll hit the 40 again, although it'll be more like 36...the last 4 on Tuesday was industrial park and warehouses, no fun dodging big rigs while watching for glass....

My drivetrain is in serious need of tuneup though, I'm getting random shifting on hills when I'm trying to step down the cogs to keep spinning. Nothing like an upshift when you desperately need the down into a granny gear! Time to stand then and straighten it out...lmao

You won't melt. I promise.

A bit of hi-viz and a blinky, ride conservatively on corners and increase safe following distances.

Since moving to New Zealand I've had to learn to show up for any outdoor activity prepared for rain. It's that or not participate in half the stuff I love to do.

This isn't much for some of you. I call it rolling some of you probably would call it flat. It's a course I ride a lot. I can make it lots of distances to suit my feelings that day. This particular day I rode the loop portion 3 times .I'm not sure I believe the elevation. The numbers from the chart don't seem to agree with the profile! I hope the link works!!

No, worries. I got my ride in today.

Higher Cadence Workout:

Trying to get my leg speed back. One main reason for not riding in the rain is cleaning my bike and having to worry about lubing the cables, chains, etc. Too lazy for that. Lol.

A new milestone...hah, 10mi. Nice ride today, felt good.

I swapped my saddle for one of the funky Adamo ISM Century saddles, muuuuch better than the Specialized Phenom I had. If I stand up after riding a while, I don't get the "whoosh" of circulation returning that I did with the Specialized. Doesn't cut the circulation off at all it seems. Much more comfortable, balanced and planted feeling on this one. I just want to swap in a zero offset post as it feels great slammed forward now, but I feel like 1cm more forward is right around the perfect spot. Zero offset would put me somewhere in the center of the rails.

Edgar Felix Bikeway 10mi ride

  • 10.7mi Distance
  • 124ft Elevation
  • 56:31 Moving Time
  • 605 Calories

From this morning. A new personal distance record for myself! 63 Miles total! My goal was to ride our back path from one end to the other and I succeeded. Not bad considering I could barely do 4 miles back in February when I started riding.

Marin "100K" (actually 57 miles). This is the first time I've done this on a single bike. Definitely easier than the tandem, but leaves me wondering how I can get a new, younger body.

Quicky, was trying for a KOM on this climb near my house but I either stopped thinking the climb was over (before it was) or the gps started the climb before I actually started to climb (The bottom portion of the climb is a cul-de-sac type parking lot and I was circling for a minute or two. My ipod told me I got about 2:45, while the gps data said like 3:30.

Oh well, there's always next time!

Got out to ride in the newly expanded Hidden Falls park in Northern Ca. It's an 8 mile loop and takes about an hour. Loop is mostly gravel fire roads with about a mile of single track. Took the cross bike, but wasn't the best choice. Worn tires on the bike kept wanting to washout on the loose gravel and not much traction on the climbs.

the two minute video is from last weekend. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=MImz5hlCtsc&feature=plcp

You're an inspiration. I've been riding for two months and can barely do this relatively flat 11 miler at less than 10 mph (started using endomondo today). I'm getting better each week, but I'm anxious to do that group 30 miler at my LBS.

Keep at it and you will get there. It seems like it takes forever to build up stamina. However, looking back I am surprised at how quickly I was able to progress. Only in the last month or so have started to add some climbing into my rides. It is pretty flat on my side of town so I have to travel about 10 miles to get to any hills. Since Feb. According to my Runtastic App I have logged 2,620 miles on the road since February and at least another 200 miles on my Mountain Bike in the Dirt. I have also dropped over 55 lbs.

Now I find myself wanting to drop weight so that I can ride faster instead of looking better.
