A short spinning ride was all I could muster today. About 10.5 miles, but I'm halfway to my goal of 200 miles, so it's all good!

Got in another ride on my new bike today, I still cannot believe how much better this bike feels to ride than my Escape did. One of the more interesting results of changing to a road bike has been a reduction in perceived levels of effort and exhaustion (especially in the legs), yet my average hr is 7-10 bpm above what I was managing on the old bike.

August 9 - 30.2 km / 23.3 km/h moving average
MTD - 125.5 km / 450 km
TTD - 499.8 km since June 25

8/8: 11.2 Miles. The humidity is back, and I was drenched in sweat by the half way point. Turned around as my odometer rolled over 800 miles, which was a nice milestone, unfortunately at the same time my cyclo-computer decided to reset automatically (thankfully I was keeping track of my distance/time all along).

Taking today off due to rain. Tomorrow I'm off the saddle due to other family activities.
And hopefully, I'll be doing my second half century ride Sunday.

Last two days have been spent driving back north to home. I did ride my bike about 5 miles yesterday to pick up my mail. Cold this morning; I know I am home.

175 for the month
3418 for the year

Just a little more easy riding over the next few days. Tour coming up Thursday.

Looks like I'm not going to to make my goal of 250 miles this month, with some heavy rains and unexpected overtime at work I'm going to shoot for 200 miles. The good news is I've been doing a little resistance training on the rainy days and the weight is still coming off. I broke into the 250's this morning, 259 down from 272.

Was planning a 15 km recovery ride, but ended up only having time to get in 11.7 km before I had to stop and attend to other things. It was nice to actually be able to do a recovery ride, with the pedaling position on my Escape I ended up having to destroy my legs anyway on any sort of positive grade, but on my Defy I was actually able to take it easy. Looking forward to getting in at least another 30 km tomorrow.

August 10 - 11.7 km
MTD - 137.2 km / 450 km
TTD - 511.5 km

frustrating ride... it's been nearly a week seine the last ride thanks to heat (yesterday heat index was still in the 90's till 10pm and 100+ most of the day), things finally cooled off so I set out on a nice 20 mile route. the first 1/2 of the ride was great about 11 miles in I noticed my ear end was getting pretty squirmy, I pulled over and found I had a puncture... my rims hold the bead very tightly so getting the tire off the bead is difficult and then I tend to have issues with it rolling the rim tape a bit, because of the OC spokes that has led to exposing the nipple holes so I get to pull the rim tape off and re set it... anyway I get the tube patched and the pumping process is very slow with my small inexpensive pump... about 2 miles down the road the tire started going soft again... at this point I just called my wife to pick me up... grr...

i've got tubes on their way (LBS didn't have the right size) and I think i'll be ordering some more puncture proof tires, I need to replace the velox tape for something a bit thinner and a better mini pump is on the list :-/

Took the cross bike out for a three hour tour on some dirt roads. https://www.strava.com/activities/73681350 Made a wrong turn at one point and ended up on a single track mtn bike trail. Tons of fun though was slower navigating the cross bike through the rougher sections of trail. 25 miles and 3k' of climbing for the day.

MTD: 257 miles and 15k' of hills climbing.

Headed out a couple of hours out of town today to meet up with some friends of my girlfriend that bicycle. Headed out on a nice 25 km ride around some beautiful trails, but I mostly had to keep my speed down to not get in front of them since they're on hybrids. Still, it was a fun day.

Well I'm running behind this month. Got 35 1/2 miles today, as well as two flats. Now at 140 miles for the month, not looking good for my goal of 500 miles. I did manage to pass 2000 miles year to date this past week.

Struggled with motivation today, but went out anyway and tackled a couple of the local hills to see how I'd fare against them. One of them was going fine in a much higher gear than usual, then I found I just couldn't keep the pedals turning so dropped to the granny ring. At that point the GPS said 12% incline so I didn't feel so bad. Headwinds were nasty.

Aug 03 - 25 miles
