what blinkers do you use?
My blinkers for some reason is really sensitive to vibration. If I ride on a gravel road, it might change from flashing to a constant beam. My head light is the same way, except worse. Sometimes, it would just go out, and I'd have to shake it or something to make it come back on again. It's weird. I want to get something else that's within a reasonable budget of ~$30-40. Any suggestions?
sorry about the misleading title. I actually want a good headlight, not a tail light. my mistake..
I still appreciate the responses though.

I like the Planet Bike Superflash in stealth (covering is clear, but it flashes red).

This and the aforementioned Hotshot are routinely suggested as being among the best values. Can't go wrong with either.

I use the Viewpoint Flashpoint Ultra. I got it on sale for about $20, IIRC. There are brighter lights out there, but this one is very bright compared to some older model blinkies. Between this and a rear view mirror, I feel pretty good about seeing and being seen from the rear.

Good:
Much Brighter than my Planet Bike Super Flash
Rechargeable via a USB cable with no batteries to replace
The price is right ($30)
Bad:
It doesn't give any sort of warning before the battery goes dead. Something like a low-power 3 color LED as on Magic Shine lights would be great, perhaps only active when it's turned on so it doesn't eat batteries when not running.
I keep a spare in my commuting pannier so I'm not unpleasantly surprised.

I prefer the DiNotte but my morning crew kicks me out of their paceline because the DiNotte is so intensely bright. So I usually use the PB Superflash, which is totally acceptable.

My favorite is the Blackburn Flea 2.0 USB. https://www.blackburndesign.com/light...l#.Ulx8uRD0k4k

Correct. But batt life is good and it's USB rechargeable so there's no reason to let it go so long that you kill it

I use the PB Superflash but IME it does not like to get wet. In the rain it becomes unpredictable. Sometimes it will shut off, change modes or won't turn off. I'll try something else when I need another.

My PDW Radbot 1000 is reliable, is as bright (or nearly so) as the superflash, and has an actual reflector built in... Just in case a rear reflector is a legal requirement in your state or Provence.
Works for me.

When I'm out riding, I almost never see anyone with a blinkie. If I do see one, it's usually the 1st generation weak and wimpy kind.
Since I ride in a canyon most of the time and about 1/3rd or more of it is shaded, it's a good idea to do everything you can to be seen and a bright blinkie is just the ticket!

Today I started my ride at 5:50 a.m. Pitch black. I had the the DiNotte in the rear and the NiteRider 600, on high, on my helmet. I felt safe.

I'm a little weary about built in rechargeables, because they loose their battery life over time. I can replace duracell recharbeables
Any headlight recommendations? I found this one. Seems to be decent according to the reviews.

LET'S ROLL
I have a few bikes; so I have different lights.
For the rear I use a Planetbike Superflash Turbo or Cygolite Hotshot.
For the front I use flashlights; but I also got a Magicshine clone.

For the front, get a magicshine clone like this one:
https://www.amazon.com/Cycling-Bicycl...cle+head+light
I have a real magic shine and a faux magic shine and they're pretty similar (build quality is a little better on the real one, and the connectors are much more solid but both work very well). Neither of them mode skip like my flashlights did. I thought the external battery packs would bug me but I just strap them to the back of the head tube or bottom of the top tube, no worries.
Another vote for the cygolite hotshot.
If you're worried about batteries running out mid-ride, get two of everything (certainly a good idea)

I have a magic shine front and rear. They are both really bright and it would be hard to miss them. I run both of mine off a single battery
