Autopilot

I'm looking to buy an indoor trainer for fall & winter bad weather riding and have read several great reviews on the Minoura B-60R Mag trainer. Any views on this or other trainers for under $300. I'm not really keen on rollers. Also, is it necessary to get a front wheel block.

Cycleops or Kurt Kinetic are good reputable brands that most people like. Search craigslist, that's where I got mine for about 50% of retail price.

I think so. Most trainers include a block of some kind in the box. I used one with mine (all three times that I rode it, anyway, before I sold the trainer off via Craigslist).

I have one of the Nashbar fluid trainers ... an older version but I've found it to be fairly quiet and quite durable.

It is not necessary to get a block if you've got a phone book you can use, but I prefer the block. The blocks are inexpensive.

And things like phone books can move if you do something along the lines of putting too much pressure through just one hand on your handlebars. Then your front tire falls off to one side and over you go....

Get a trainer block.

I've been trolling around on ebay and craigslist trying to find good deals on used models because it seems like a lot of people use them 2-3 times and then get bored. Just missed out on some great deals on some middle range ones (kurt kinetic rock n roll's seem pretty highly regarded), but now a lot of other people seem to be starting to think like me and the prices are going up. Wish I'd started looking sooner.
