Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

No 7-11 in Taiwan? I could not have survived my teens, twenties and thirties.

1) Find a chick who actually rides a bike or one you can convert to riding.
2) If I bought a bike made in Taiwan, unless it was a road bike, and sold it two years later, I'd expect to take a bath on it. So, wouldn't it be even worse if you're trying to sell a Taiwanese bike in Taiwan? Or was the bike made somewhere else?

It was a Taiwanese made Giant. Carbon road bike. And yes selling it here used is suicidal. People buy bikes like they buy luxury goods handbags...no one wants second hand.

and the way the bike industry works, any mass market brand is going to be made in Taiwan, even if it has a fancy European or North American brand on it.

What's my next move? The current ms coasting has said that she will ride with coasting on the mup but not in the mountains. that made me think of getting a fixie which I have never ridden before and would add to my collection. I have a carbon, a SS conversion from my steel bike, a Ti. Luckily Ms C is rather tall for an Asian and her legs are actually longer than mine so I can ride whatever bike I end up getting for her. then recently she said once in a blue moon she might ride in the mountains with me. that has complicated things. that means a real bike with gears.

Prime example is taking place this morning through much of the south. As a winter storm creates absolute mayhem with traffic, its reported that some city officials are claiming they were inadequately warned. In response, the Weather Channel is disputing these claims by presenting charts outlining when and where they issued winter storm advisories and warnings.

It's ridiculous! Clearly, overblown forecasts in the future will be the norm.
The only story about this I've seen is this one: https://www.usatoday.com/story/weathe...south/5010845/

The governor of Georgia just said that NWS models showed the brunt of the storm heading further South. That's an easily verifiable claim.

I've always thought that over forecasting was more of an effort to capture eyeballs for a ratings boost. I can't say that I've ever heard of litigation for an incorrect forecast.

I'm peeling the decals off my Zipps for that murdered out bizness. I'm glad I started this task in January, hopefully I'll have all 12 of them removed before the TDF.

So you've acquired (whatever) a new Ms Coasting since you re-entered the friend zone with the one who wouldn't ride your (ex) ex's bike? Not sure what your batting average is but you're sure stepping up to the plate a lot.

Didn't encounter any ice. Between the traffic and roads being salted, they were fairly clear.
