Where should I put my water bottle?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Where should I put my water bottle?

My current bike sadly didn't come with holes to put a cage in. We put one on my handlebars but the weight on one side made the balancing an issue. I don't think there's any option on the bike, so I think all that's left is my body. I can't afford a Camelbak and a backpack is too much for just a single water bottle.

I need a place to put a bottle and not have it get in the way (like shoulder bags). Extra points if there's a place for my phone.

I was thinking a fanny pack. Any thoughts?

*do not go there, do not go there, do not go there, do not go there*

I've had good luck with bar mounted cages. ( That was a struggle.)
They go in, toward the stem (right next to it) and do not affect handling.

A jersey?

A seat rail mount?

Standard bottle cage mounted with hose clamps?

Is this an older steel framed bike? There's a lot of different types of straps to hold a water bottle cage.

For instance, these clamps from Velo Orange are inexpensive. A cut piece of bike inner tube under the straps will help keep the frame from getting scratched.

Or, like caloso posted, use some stainless hose clamps the same way.

Give profile design's aqua rack a look.

Butt rockets engaged.

For the record I know of many triathletes who swear by them.

And if your bottle gets launched, you're either doing it wrong or you've worn out the elastic bands that are on the exterior of the cage.

Drill some holes and install rivnuts. That's what the factory does.

A wastepack made to hold a pair of bottles actually works pretty well. I used one for a couple years just because my bike did not have bottle cages. You can get them on sale cheap or scour ebay. Here's an example:

6.99 (maybe plus shipping)
Outdoor Products, BLue & Gray Bottle Holders,Hiking,Mojave 8.0 Fanny Waist Pack

Cage on bar works for me, only tough to balance when hands-free. Took hours to balance bars for this pic

I guess second cage on other side would work also. Back when pros ran bottles on bars they usually ran doubles.

I like this. I have a CX bike with diamond shaped downtube but a mounting bottle mounting screw broke off in the hole. I've been afraid of trying to drill it out because if the remaining bit falls into the tube then it will be pinging around in there until the end of days. Due to the tube shape, metal clamps don't work (I've tried). This gizmo universal with the zip ties would likely do the trick. Or maybe I should just use two or three zip ties on a bottle cage.

Nevermind. I see you ride a fixie, it'll probably fall out.

I have one of these Minoura mounts to add an extra bottle to one of my bikes in the summer.

https://www.amazon.com/Minoura-Bottle.../dp/B000YOOVIO

It's a bit of a remnant from the old days in that it cannot straddle a modern stem with a 4-bolt front clamp. The bike I use it on has a 3ttt THE stem with a 2-bolt clamp and it works fine.

The U-bolts come with a vinyl covering that make them fit too tight for modern, aluminum road bars so I removed them.
