Random Thought Thread, aka The RTT (**possible spoilers**)

Rode the Battenkill course today with some teammates. It's significantly harder than last year. More dirt, more climbing, and more steeps. Plus one of the teammates is a 22 year old climbing specialist which made it even harder.
On the practice ride, my NP was identical to what it was in last year's race. But the course took 25 minutes longer to complete and TSS was 50 points higher. (All time high TSS actually, I think.)
Combined with the tough winter that has limited training time for a lot of people, I think there are going to be a lot of hurting racers.

[QUOTE=botto;16611718]does this mean that he finds the 33 as boring as i have of late?
Here you go: https://goo.gl/KKwqli
Sorry, you're probably a decent guy, but all you do is post non-witty one-worders and ooze superciliousness. How is anyone supposed to like you these days?

Still alive. In the circle of hell that is medicine these days. Get better service at Starbucks. Or even Target. Racing till they tell me to stop or start cutting and drilling. Be nice if I can get things fixed before I move up to the 55's.
Have a 16 year old ex Garmin devo kid I am coaching staying with me his week. Got him certified on the boards, explained who that guy in the USA kit was in the P123 crit he was in (Bobby Lea, and the kid hung with junior gears like it was nothing), and am getting him ready for San Dimas.
Miss my big brown dog and the feeling in my leg. As I noted the other day to a friend no Somali gun ships are shooting at me so my life could be much worse.

Good attitude Rx.
Finally bought a new laptop. Surprised myself how smoothly I've been able over to move data and software to the new machine. I've never seen myself as techno type guy, but with the aid of google I'm on my way to figuring out windows 8.1. Would have preferred win7, but at this price point I didn't have much choice.
Now to ditch Norton and install something that is not a pig.

My wife just got a Lenovo Yoga. She really likes it (after getting used to Win 8.1)
Being able to prop it up various ways is great for using on the sofa, in bed, on the countertop while reading recipes .... and the backlit keyboard is nice at night.

I looked at that one, but it was beyond my self imposed price point...
I do miss the back lit keyboard that my work one has.

I need a new lap top for work. Couple years back they had a group buy type deal and I stayed out just to piss off the then manager. Been getting by with an old Dell that the company bought before that manager came on board but now the display has gone dark. Hooked it up to an old monitor but can't take it on a road test like that.
A co-worker wants to sell me his daughters' computer, been trying it but it's kinda crappy, too. Also found a desk top and hooked that up so I have 3 computers in my work area.
I use a computer constantly every day for programming cars, diagnosis, even to order parts and complete work orders and billing. Maybe I should just buy one.

My buddy brought his six-month-old German Shepard puppy to the bike races this past weekend. The minute I walked over, the dog must have sensed I like dogs, because he jumped up on me and we started playing/wrestling. He still had those really sharp puppy teeth and claws.
Anyway, after a few minutes, my buddy's wife comments, "Oh, did he get you?" I looked down, and had blood on my hand. I guess at some point, he scratched me. It was no big deal.
But when I got home, I saw in the mirror that I had a similar scratch on my nose. At the time, I thought nothing of it, but I have since accidentally scratched the scab off twice and made it worse. Now, I have a glob of Neosporin on it, and if I look down even slightly, I can see the ointment/scab. Really frustrating.
Cute puppy though. He was a lot of fun.

Health stuff is annoying. I imagine you've heard EDR's off the bike for a bit. For the first time in a long time, I feel like I'd set myself back months if I tried to sprint on my knee.

I also left a floor pump on the bumper of the car. Twice. Remembered when I went to unpack the car after driving 2 hours home. For a year or so I used a frame pump for my regular pump, floor pumps were expensive to me.
When we drove down to Baltimore for the Turkey Day crit we were a bit zonked after driving 5+ hours there, racing, and then hanging around for the prizes. We started on the way back, sunroof open. My teammate decided he wanted to tighten the skewer holding his bike on the rack. He loosened it while we were going about 50-55 mph. The bike started to tilt off the side of the car. If it was my bike it would have been easy to hold up since it's short, but he rode a 66 cm so the thing was really tall, really top heavy. We were trying to hold up the bike by the bottom of the fork blades while he pulled over. Luckily nothing bent.

I've left wheels at races. Once, in NJ, I didn't realize it until the next morning when I went to switch race to training wheels. 90 minute drive each way got me them back from the host shop. Thankfully they were labeled.
Another time I left a race and was on the way home when I again realized they were in the pit. doh.
Now if my wife isn't with me I leave a note on the dashboard.

you mean you don't have a 3 spare sets of race wheels: one for your warm up bike, which you ride before you race on your crit bike, because you don't want to damage your road bike?
