Ok auchencrow. Well if it's any consolation, I'm 50, and have been unable to run any distance due to injury and going to PT for one year! So as I throw around the term "infirm" I should probably look at myself first. It's hard, sometimes, in writing and not knowing each other personally. Tone of voice, body language, etc. aren't present to help gauge intent. My intent is almost always meant to be playful, and never hurtful or disrespectful. I know you said you wouldn't hold a grudge, but I apologize if what I said was offensive to you.
The interweb does make it hard to read people sometimes though.
(I try to remember to use winky emoticons and such, to imply that the post was tongue in cheek, but it can still be hard to discern sometimes.)

Ya, really well done. I can see a bottle of chilled vodka in one of the bottle holders, just lean forward and down to fill your shot glass. And a frame pump - needs a frame pump cane to go with it.

And this site has 250 more design examples to talk about! I personally like the chair and would like one. I suspect it is a one-off. Given the cost of a custom frame, what do you think the chair price would be?

Artistic? Design? Ok, the craftsmanship is way beyond my ability, so I'll give it an A+ for Craftsmanship, but I'd also like to say
"The Emperor ain't got no clothes"!
I'm with velovixian, it reminds me or a Walker

I spent an hour last night looking at all the entries on that site. Some very neat stuff.

This looks like a great diy project if you have 2 crashed road bikes and a lot more talent than I do. I'm thinking gas pipe tubing might be perfect with an old school head tube badge.

Ok, well it doesn't look quite like a walker. Maybe it doesn't look anything like a walker. Sometimes in media a rocking chair is used to connote the aged, often in a humerous sort of way, implying that as we age we slow down and just sit and rock (we all know that's totally incorrect - Heck I'm 50 & doing a marathon in 2 days!). That, plus the metal tubing......
As a profession I provided therapy services to geriatric patients in long term medical care facilities. I was around a lot of adaptive devices, used to make activities of daily living possible and meaningful. My father, with Parkinson's disease and poor balance, was relegated to walk in a walker that looked more like a caged in walking chair with wheels. It was meant to keep him safe from falling.....he managed to fall in it.
Anyway, that's where my mind goes when I see certain things. The artist who made this chair put a lot of thought into it and it looks to be well crafted. The first thing that popped into my head, though, was a walker.

No one cares
if the requirements are to be old, sit down in a relaxed position, and ride a bike, I'll just pick a recumbent bicycle.
What would have made this idea cooler would have been if it was crafted out of existing bicycles. Perhaps a few Singers or Herses, just to have a bit more controversy.
As it is it's still cool as a piece of modern art, where as, no rules apply. it's just art.

Ha!, I hadn't thought of that, you could save a ton of money that way. I was referring to the advice that is often given on the 41 when somebody complains of discomfort on the bike. I thought it would be nicer than saying to HTFU .
