Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

A monstercross/gravel rig is born

Pieced this rig together with new/old/leftover parts. Just dropped her off at my mechanic, will post pics when she's all done. Goal was to have a bike capable of handling pavement and trails equally well. Plan to do road rides mixed with dirt/fire road/single track. Final weight will be around 22-23lbs. Total build cost was $600!

Specs:

'06 Felt F1X aluminium frame
'09 Felt F1X carbon fork
TRP CX8.4 brakes
Tiagra 4600 shifters/front mech
Deore M591 SGS rear mech
Deore 11-36t 10sp cassette
Deore HG54 chain
Shimano R600 50/34 cranks
Shimano M540 pedals
Clement X'plor USH 35c tires
DT Axis 1.0 wheelset
Stock cockpit/seatpost from my '12 Allez

Sweet.

Way to keep the costs down and it turned out great!

You'll love those tires. Such a value.

Sweet ride!

I will second the love for the Clement USH. I rode mine in some pretty deep mud recently and they performed way better than I thought they would.

Nicely done! It is one of the nicer bikes that I have seen in awhile. Really appreciate the before and after shots. Happy riding.

Wow that's a sweet bike!! I have a ton of parts from an older bike that I want to get a new frame for. Now all I need to do is learn how to put them on lol.
