1965 English pedal size and thread?

Can someone specify 1965 English pedal size and thread? Pedaled it too far into a turn. Doh!

Most likely 9/16" x 20tpi or standard English threading:

Bicycle Pedals -- types, installation, Maintenance.

2 different, more modern like-new 9/16 pedals I tried using would not thread in. A pedal from a 1974 Robin Hood (Raleigh)bike does thread in by hand. Afterward, the other pedals still would not thread in past 1/8 inch or so. I did use both the correct-side pedals and thread-direction each time. So I'm thinking there's a different threading. Unfortunately, keeping the Raleigh pedal which does fit on there is not an option, as it leaves the other person's bike without pedals.

The threads might be a bit buggered and need to be chased, perhaps. Or use those pedals from the Robin Hood!

If its a Raleigh its the 9/16" x 20tpi nlerner mentioned.

If there are donation bike shops in your area, go take a peek. You can usually find later examples (with reflectors) for $5.00/pair

When the pedals would not thread by hand, I was worried about not damaging threads by forcing something the wrong size. But with patience, cleaning, grease, and gentle use of a wrench, it got to where various pedals would easily thread in and out of the crank arm by hand.

Thanks for all the replies. All of you guys were right. It is the standard 9/16 pedal size and threading.

Hey now I'm going out for a ride)
