Winter Grease

I know it seems a little late to be asking this question but its been bugging me. I noticed the hubs on my bike seem to roll slower/require more to move them when it gets cold out, and by cold I mean 10 degrees and colder. I was wondering if anyone out there knows of any grease that will do better in colder weather? Thank s in advance.

LUBRIPLATE MAG-l grease is supposed to be the "hot" ticket for ultra-low temperature greased applications. Or you can just use 90w gear oil instead of or in addition to a tiny bit of grease.

It shouldn't be too much of an issue except for freehubs which sometimes will freeze up in cold temps, especially with old grease that has had water get into it, or grease-filled IGH's that might be sluggish.

I like, and use Finish Line Grease with Teflon Fluoropolymer in all my hubs. I own and maintain eight wheelsets. It is good stuff!

I've found the extra clothing, fat layer, general "engine" issues in cold weather to be much more a factor than the grease in my bearings. Enough so that I wouldn't be running "winter" and "summer" grease

Lubriplate. They sell it in tooth paste tubes at garage door places.

SuperLube works great and won't thicken nearly as much as traditional automotive grease in cold weather. It doesn't thin in hot weather either so even though it seems very light it stays put and does a good job in wet conditions as well. I've used it year round for about three years in all my hubs and have no complaints. I service the hubs on all my bikes each spring and the Mutt (all rounder and winter bike) gets a little more grease late in the fall.

Synthetic greases, like Mobil 1,work much better in cold/freezing temps than regular grease.

Myself,I just change the cold, dense, heavy winter air in my tires for the warm, lively summer air.....Makes all the difference....
