An absolute dream bike you have right there, for sure.
All of the detail work on the frameset really sets this one apart. imho
Great color choice as well.

Vonruden, your Ellis is gorgeous, so clean and minimalistic, what a beauty!!! You are the first person that I've seen besides myself running high flange PAUL hubs that aren't laced to silly looking deep-v "fixie" hoops. Thanks you for confirming less is more! I'm running a similar wheelset on my Smorgasbord, some fool is always making a comment how I need deep-v's on there. Given your stable of bikes, I'll count myself in good company!

Im glad that the Miyata company was soo generous whith information about my bike. If they didn telled that my bike costed around 5,500 euro at the former yen course at 1990 I would hag falled for those thiefs or people that always try to make a buck on lies. Here i only had contact whith the administrator and a few also honest people here and i read thier treads and i realy had grat help from that. But another site whith a forom sniffed up my lost of knolege and tryed to come over my bike for less than only one part would cost. But a gentleman and collector payed 25.000 euro for my bike. The ******** i talked to wanted to give me 1200-1500 USD for it. Thieves who try to make money on fooling other. A brand new never rolled a meter bike "ofcause 100% original" was selled to distrubiters and bicycle salesmans only, for a price 1990 of 5,500 Euro. Not even one bike is sold ofissily on internet. Yesterday and a week back i search for a simular bike like mine. And there where few facts about it. Now today i have all facts about my former bike. There are alot of pricedumping ads who suddenly telled that the bike wasent worth nore than the shippingcost to UK hahah. They would have ruined my biz if i didnt had the contact whith the company. So nice people and they even called my SAN😋 450.000 yen plus VAT at the time. It was sold for. Has it in that scenario going cheeper true 25 years then? They were egar to inform me avout the bordic lower price version blablabla and they wantet to tell me that a 100% brand new bike limited edition 25 years old was worth around or betvine 2-500 Euro or 1200 USD it was depending on what extraequipment that was on? They had already seen the photo of it. They also putted out several adds and one add on E-Bay to dump the price on my bike. Dishonest and low. But this forum is serius and wery nice. But i had to tell this if someone have a qestion in the future of simular character. Contact the company and ask. That saved me alot of money😋 Best regard Robbike

Hey Vonruden, good eye my brother, that is a White Industries freewheel. I won't run anything else anymore, they are worth the extra coin. I used to run Shimano 3.3.3. (pre-Dura Ace quality) freewheels but those got harder to find and harder to find plus I always hated the dark bronze/brown color.
I have to ask, what's your feeling on that crank you are running?
You certainly have one of the nicest track bikes I've seen, your Ellis would easily make top 5 on my list of dream bikes... congrats!
Cheers,

I have a number of steel bikes that I enjoy but only one do I call my baby... my resto-mod frankenbike a 1988 Schwinn Cimarron LE. It's always the first bike I reach for and then I have to stop and be fair to the other bikes that get neglected. It has been built up a few different ways until I finally landed on the present configuration, now it rides like a dream!
However, I do have a new potential love interest... a 1980's Paganini Team CX bike. Originally belonged to a team rider, only to be sanded (even the chrome too) and left unfinished by the second owner who I rescued the bike from. This is my next big build and I have all kinds of ideas for where I want to take this diamond in very rough shape. The paint on the fork is the original color. It's a unique frame with odd little details but I love all the pantographing on the lugs... little logos everywhere!

Columbus!!!
This guy has been outfitted with Command Shifters, an IRD 5 speed freewheel and Velo Orange Zeppelin fenders. It's a really CLASSY looking bike now. Not that it isn't in these pix, but moreso now. This is a way cool bike, and way cool the way it was originally specced and the way it was put together.

Generally, a company will not have any sort of information about what their old bikes currently sell for, they either made or lost money on that bike 25 years ago; they're trying to make money now.
Just because something is old doesn't mean it's desirable.
What Miyata model would have sold for 5,500 Euro 25 years ago?

Finished a local century ride on a cold rainy day with my 1970's (?) steel frame. I stripped and repainted this (no brand name) frame, appears to be a custom frame built using Columbus tubing and Campagnolo drop outs etc. I really enjoy riding this bike, especially with the wheelset; Campagnolo hubs, Ambrosio Montreal tubular rims, and Vittoria Corsa tires.

It's a "titanium Record 2-bolt", which of course never existed. There was a loose top section on ebay that must have come loose from one of the bonded aluminum 80's MTB posts Campy made. I bought it just for the hardware but then stared thinking it would be cool to machine down and bond it to a titanium tube.
Drew at Engin sent me a piece of 27.2 ti tubing and I turned down the top to fit. Then drilled the cradle boss, did some surface finishing on the top and bead blasted to give it the old Record look.
This is what I started with:

The lug thinning on that Bishop is close to perfection; it's gotta be the best I've ever seen.

I agree, it's right there with the best I've seen. Rides as good as it looks as well. Fit is spot on.
