I don't have many ride options on my lunch break, so I did a Z2-Z3 ride on the super busy MUP. There was a triathlon going on and their run was on the MUP that was still open to the public so I had to dodge all the normal weekend family, weekend warrior, bike rental, clueless, homeless, etc. crowd AND the tail end of the tri-geeks on their run. That was sketchy..... I need to find another approved route for the weekends.

Right now my favorite high intensity intervals when there is not much time are 10x 30s @ 150%FTP/ 30s recovery. By the end of 10 min my lungs and legs both hate me, also since I have started doing these I am doing better at weeknight crits. FWIW. 15 min warmup + 5 min cool down = 30 min workout.

after the race yesterday the winner (us nat champ) and I were talking. He was being very kind, thanking me for working, saying I made a good move (that he countered and won solo), etc. Then he says "you're really strong; if you lost 10 lbs. you would have snapped the elastic on that attack (up the hill)..."

Nice work doing something to impress him.
I crashed 4 times, 3 of them were in the same week, all of them within the same month. none of them were my fault, but damn, the worst I got was my bruised elbows, and probably a scar over the previous scar I had.... nothing as bad as broken ribs.
Both times the broken ribs have come from getting run over after hitting the deck; maybe I should just ride in the back and fall on/run over someone else instead of vice-versa..
or just wear this: Forcefield Extreme Harness EX-K Adventure

ok I guess it could protect you when a cyclist run you over. I was thinking more along the lines of being thrown against a wall at 25 mph.

They are made to help absorb energy after being high-sided 10 feet in the air off a motorcycle at 100+ mph, so yeah, it would probably make a difference with the wall too.
stop. nobody is wearing ****ing Kevlar anytime soon!
Party pooper.
one of those mornings where everything is jut a little off. put new brake pads on the front and they felt a little off, couldn't replace the rear pads because the stupid little bolt that holds the pad into the holder was striped, was stupidly anxious about my stupid headset (see tech thread), the roads were wet, got a friggin flat 5' into my interval set, and to top it all off got into an argument with some aggro driver (did my best to keep my calm and explain the laws and why I was in the lane I was but it wasn't helping). first world problems, I know, but a frustrating day on the bike.

I wouldn't have even mentioned it if he hadn't tried to drop me hard on Sunday. He's a known quantity and it was just satisfying to see I was correct that I'm healed and not dealing with post sick weirdness anymore as I consider him a quality climber.

I guess it doesn't strike me as abnormal to compare yourself to people you ride with fairly regularly. If I ever pipped CDR in a sprint that would also be a noteworthy experience, I'd probably get pipped for HGH and Testosterone shortly afterward but it'd still be noteworthy.
