it's both kind of jabbing mikey as a narcissist for thinking every post is about him, but it's also a double entendre in that looking into the reflecting pool and seeing one's reflection is the very representative of Mikey looking at GSBs post and seeing his own anxieties.
Like I said, solid post. Would approve again. 10/10

dropped my FTP in workout software 20 watts.
probably should drop it another 10, but it doesn't really matter either way given my lack of intervals.

Did the local hammer ride, pretty much won it. Well, at least the sprints. Dropped like a fat sprinter on the climb.
Saw Ygduf out of the corner of my eye I think, on his way home from a late day at the office.

Track race, cat 4, didn't win this time. Actually legs were burning instead of lungs and just didn't feel quite right. 5th of 15. Some bumping and swerving last lap of scratch scared me and I eased up to stay safe. Took 2nd in tempo mostly by attacking hard into the 2nd to last sprint and holding it for the final bonus sprint. and just couldn't sprint well in points. There was a crash in the 1/2/3 field, luckily only 2 guys went down. One was my teammate, who was fine except for a ruined helmet and skinsuit. The other guy was on the track for like 20 minutes until he got taken on a stretcher, but at least he was awake.

Legs coming around a bit this morning. Not sure if that means coming around to being actually fast (probably not, the way this season is going), but at least I'll be rested. Openers this afternoon, Longsjo starts tomorrow. After that, road season will be mostly over, just Hilltowns, Lime Rock (I think?) Tokeneke, Mayor's Cup still to go. And I can really dig into training.
^you forgot yarmouth and concord.
and some of those are the best races of the season. we might be through the "majority" of races, but far from over!

I had to carry one of my dogs for an hour and a half at the end of an 8 mile day hike in desolation wilderness and while I was able to keep my footing on the rocky terrain, I did manage to tweak my lower back enough to make me not want to ride for a few days. Hiking out the next day with my pack did not help. It hurts to move. Ugh.

I made it from my office in NJ, over the GW bridge and to midtown manhattan in about 35 minutes yesterday to make a dentist appointment. I was flying. Then it took me 10 minutes to get around a few blocks around the times square area.

So I've bumped up the volume gradually over the past 4 weeks and got my CTL to a peak of about 91 from 75 @ the end of May. Took a couple easy days this week, and then commuted with the usual intensity yesterday and today. Planning to do 2x20's today, but wondering from your guys experience when the best day to do another 20 min test would be. The legs feel a little stiff and heavy today and not really all that fresh despite TSB being positive. Do you find that typically you need a hard day before you feel fast again? I was thinking I'd do the 2x20 today and then test tomorrow.
I was originally planning to do some combination of rest and vo2max intervals this week to peak for a hill climb TT that got canceled

gotcha.
My best flat ground 3x20min is 345ish, but that was back in uh, like December? I'd assume it'd be higher now, but that's also outside of a race situation.

Also 3x20s are much different than steadily applied power for like 1:20. I couldn't tell you what I'm capable of going all out for for that period of time. I'd wager I'd settle in somewhere around the 4.3-4.4ish area as that seems to be what my legs default to when I'm 100% smoked

Wow, that really shows the aero difference of a TT bike. I did 30' at 290w this morning (on the hoods mostly) and avg. speed was 22.0mph.

I'm only 1min/10miles slower on my road bike. It's just the steady momentum gaining/holding pedaling and keeping your head out of the air.

Out of curiosity, do you prefer to be in the drops or elbows bent on the tops?
