The fork is of a larger frame so the lenth is there. If I clamped down on it half of the surface would be threaded & half would be bare. Would it work?

The clamped part of the threads could have a cutting effect from road vibration and cause the clamp to eventually fracture , not good, go threadless.

I'm goin to go to the local shop bring the fork & see how a stem bolt on to it. Just to see if it will work. If this works I will be spending about $150 & not $475.
