Bicycle Repair Man !!!
Forrest got the call today... the 16km round trip is nothing like the 100 km / day trips we used to do.
The 9 speed set up is making me really happy, the shifting is spotless and with these small wheels you don't need to hit that 39 tooth granny unless it gets really steep.
Installed a new stem and scored a Lezyne mini pump which is an ideal fit for my pocket tourer which is also a splendid all round bicycle for almost any conditions.

This bike started life as a ´94 Focus Crater Lake steel hybrid (stock photo):
It was trashed and dumped in a hedge with a broken bottom bracket, at which point the process of bringing it back to life began.
It´s currently in its second build in my hands. Pre-paint it was running a mixed 2x8 Sora/old 105 drivetrain and cantis.
Post-paint job (Hammerite brush on ´copper´) it has a 2x10 Tiagra groupset with an FSA Vero square taper crank, and Tektro mini-V brakes. The rear mech cable is a fancy Jagwire teflon/Kevlar combo, it shifts beautifully.
The frame is low-grade steel, so pretty thick gauge, and has compact geometry so it´s remarkably stiff. I run 622/30 tyres for a cushy ride. Hand-laced rear wheel, so pretty bombproof.
I´ve put about 12,000km on it, plenty more to come!
The current front wheel is off my Merckx as the old dynamo hub front delaminated at the brake track and disintegrated. Very scary.

My road bike came with an FSA Vero crankset. I'm not really a fan.

Really, mine came with some cheap POS BB in a weird short 103mm spindle length (Shimano doesn't make one that length). It went to crap after less than 2K miles I think.

Here's mine. Just built it and will be trying commuting for the first time. We'll see how it goes.

I'm not throwing out the crankset, because I don't want to spend the money on a new 105 or Ultegra Hollowtech crank and BB with outboard bearings. But I wish I could. I trashed that old BB quick, though.
Bicycle Repair Man !!!
My bike is very close to a Bike Friday in geometry... it fits like a 55cm bike.
From the web..

Got a crappy bike from a friend, replaced most of the parts with stuff from my parts bin & rebuilt the rest, total investment about 300 Kč ($12) All-steel except Al rims, 14.6 kg (32 lbs) pictured (incl. a lock and a battery for the headlight, both hidden in the frame bag).
