9 speed chain

i am currently converting from 8 to 9 speed. so far all is well except for the fact that the chain seems too long.there doesn't seem to be enough tension on the rear der.did i miss something or forget to do something? should the new chain have to be shortened? please help.

Yeah,new chains almost always have to be shortened.Take a look at www.parktool.com for help.I aslo assume you have it threaded thu the RD the right way?

Geeez! If you didn't know that the chain needed to be shortened, I wonder what else you managed to futz-up?
