Last month I really pushed hard to meet my goals and reached my stretch goal last night. For the next several months I'm likely going to be stuck indoors on my trainer, which for some reason the miles don't come as easily as on the road. I'm sure I just need to get used to it more, but nevertheless it seems harder than when I'm outside. So for this month I'm lowering my goals to 500 miles with a stretch goal of 600 miles. I very well might up that through the month but I'm going to start conservative.

Have a Century ride on the 4th and 25th, 130 mile weekend on the 10th/11th. Been working on shorter rides with more climbing, so I didn't reach my September goal. I'll go with 500 miles for October.

13 miles so far in October. Sustained wind speeds of 30 mph with gust to 50 today. Same yesterday, same tomorrow. Guess it's a trainer weekend.

After a pitiful month, I guess I'll set a goal for 100 miles this month even though I plan on riding that tomorrow weather permitting.

Super fun CX race yesterday. Course had several long stretch of super slick mud. Spectators gathered around a stretch where racers could hit it with lots of speed and hopefully be able to slip and slid all the way across. Not all made it! I finished mid-pack, and had way too much fun doing it. Today (Sunday) includes bike cleaning.
MTD 26 miles.
MTD 26 miles.

Hand injury had me coming up short for Sept... Since I've got a 66mi ride this weekend and the temps are making the trainer look bearable again (plus binge-watching Walking Dead 5), I'm going for 200, stretch to 300 weather permitting.
10/1: 27.45mi, 1:49:18 @15.1mph. 20mph+ wind from the north.

I've been hovering around 175 the last couple months (give or take...I've been tracking the commuting miles somewhat inconsistently). Want to make 200 miles this month.

Want to finish the year with 3k outdoor miles, so I'm in for 411. No big rides or anything planned, I guess I better get on that
10/3 - 30 mins trainer
10/4 - 8.46
10/5 - 23.52 (commute)
Total - 31.98/411, 30 mins trainer

I started the year with my usual goal of 2,000 miles but blew past that in August, so I upped it to 2,500. Came into October with 2,633, so I've decided to shoot for 3,000, hoping to get 300 of them in October. I live in the northern Washington DC suburbs so it was pretty much a washout until yesterday because we had rain every day. But yesterday and today were gorgeous - got in 62 miles - and the rest of the week is shaping up pretty well, so I'm going to go all out and try to get in a couple of 40 mile rides by the end of the week as well as a few smaller ones. Now looking to get to 3,000 by the end of the month. It starts to get a good bit chillier here in November, as well as rainier, so I want to do all I can in October. Plus once we turn the clocks back evening riding is done (even now sunset is already at 6:45, so that already puts a damper on things).
I'm having my best year overall in other ways as well: averaging 17 mph, 52-ft per mile elevation gain, average ride of 22 miles. Guess I better enjoy it: I'm 61 and I'm not sure the stars are going to align like this again.

Non omnino gravis
10/1 27.3 miles, 1,588ft^
The weekly errands with some climbing thrown in.
10/2 24.9 miles, 131ft^
Impromptu 40k attempt, but way too many stoplights before the MUP for it to be decent (or indicative of anything.)
Got good numbers for my LTHR on the mid-portion of the trail though.
10/2 25.5 miles, 682ft^
The ride home after the 40k nonsense.
10/3 5.6 miles, 158ft^
Leisurely morning ride with my daughter.
10/3 15.9 miles, 486ft^
Too much energy left over after the morning cruise. Neighborhood hot laps.
10/5 26.4 miles, 3,383ft^
Was falling behind on climbing, so I decided to do a whole bunch of it all at once.
10/6 75.5 miles, 2,149ft^
Woke up and figured I could knock out the Gran Fondo for the month. Got stung by a bee at mile 67. :|
MTD: 201.4 miles, 8,566ft^
No real mileage goal, but I am shooting for the Strava climbing challenge for the month though (24,600ft.)
Is this about the time of year where people that live where weather occurs start having to ride less?
We may have no water here, but winter also doesn't exist, so we have that going for us.

October Goal: 300 mi (Stretch: 325 mi) - Elevation Goal: 6000'
-------------------------------------------------------
9/06: 6.2
9/07: 10.9
-------------------------------------------------------
MTD: 17.1
YTD: 1227.6
WTD: 17.1
MTD Elevation: 369'
Well, September was off as I only got in 11 rides for 175.8 miles (Elevation: 3812'). Between vacation, helping wife with a festival and 2 weeks of rain, my riding was very off.
I'll still go for the same goals for October that I had for September. Even though the first week was pretty much a washout.

Don't drag nothin'. That's what a bucket on the tractor is for.
Took the Garmin with me.
Lap 2 data shows I was surrounded for 21 minutes. Had them anywhere from 18' straight down to 30 yds.
The HR spiked to 137 when the arrow got turned loose
Training Peaks assigned it a TSS of 1.2
Will do that again tonight.
