Can't double up as Cat 5. :(
Just expressing the little frustration I have. I can't double up in any of my local races since I am Cat 5! The women can double up because they run a separate Cat 4 women's race with the masters and a Cat 3/4 race, but the races around here for men are Men's 4/5 and then Men's 3/4. If they have a Cat 5 beginners race, they start it at the same time as the 4/5 race, just a few minutes later. I just want to race twice in one day! I guess I get it, since most of the fields are small-ish. But my first race this year had 66 in the Cat 4/5 race, so you would think there would be enough for just a Cat 5 race, then a Cat 4/5. That's all.

A woman on my team did six races in one day last week: singlespeed, women's singlespeed, C, master C, 50+ and women's 45+. Sometimes the day's schedule makes things possible if you're determined enough.

You might be able to ride your bike in a singlespeed race by rendering the shifters inoperable with zip ties. Some series allow it.

i'm doubling up this year. only thing wrong is Cat5 is the next race after i do the open SS race. i'm currently in the process of going to Ca4.
the other racers just look and shake their heads when i jump off my SS and onto my geared bike then roll into the staging area. i am getting used to doing back to back races now. on the upside, i'm all warmed up and ready to hit it in my Cat race.
