Giro Atmos II helmet (cough) upgrade from my Giro '95er and a pair of VeloChampion Warp cycling glasses. Glasses were £ 20. and well spent. I was nervous buying glasses online but yeah got to say perfect fit = one happy person.

Thanks for pointing out the obvious.
Not everyone is walking around with cable cutters. If someone is planning on stealing a bike not many locks will stop them. Just like if a car thief wants your car, its alarm system won't save it.
It's to stop the person who sees an unlocked bike and on an impulse takes it.
Its just so I can walk into a deli to get something quick while on a ride.
Odd that you sat they stopped making it because its still on their website:
ABUS Special Lock Combiflex Pro 202 (52920)
And many vendors are still selling them.

This is how much i love my bike. It weighs 5kilo but i think of it like ankle weights

OK. This will probably appall some folks sensibilities. My most recent purchase was a seat post. Nothing fancy cuz I'm not a fancy kind of guy. I ride an old Schwinn middleweight, rusted chrome and all. Anyway, I needed the new seat post cuz my fat butt bent the old post. I didn't seem to have any problem as long as I was just riding on roads. But once I started riding on trails, the post started to give out. Now here's the really appalling part. The only seat post I could find that would fit was just like the old seat post. Well, that was just going to bend again when I would get out in the woods. So, I took a piece of rebar and jammed it into that seat post. That's right. I just cavalierly added about 14 inches of solid steel weight to my bike. That's got to be enough to make some folks faint. But it works and if it slows me down a little bit or makes me work a little harder, I don't really give a damn. ![Thumbs Up](images/smilies/thumb.gif)

Jury rigging a seatpost with rebar can't be safe.

I agree with you about safety. I thought about the safety issue before installing the seat post and couldn't come up with a scenario where it would be unsafe. Perhaps there is a remote possibility of impaling myself on the post. But that would only be likely to happen if the seat came off the bike or collapsed in such a was that the post would go through the bottom of the seat. However, in that case, I would be just as likely to get impaled by this type of seat post even without the rebar. I am open to the ideas of others because I'm seldom the brightest bulb in the room.![Cheers](images/smilies/cheers.gif)

You are a humble man. There was a guy a while back, all over the interwebz, who had a seatpost break, cut a femoral artery and bled to death right there on the side of the road. Chance of it happening are small but the idea doesn't appeal to me. I'm glad you thought it through. A guy near me drilled through his seatpost to attach a homemade trailer. Yikes!

BTW, nice light. Probably the brightest in the room.

Fuji Altamira 1.1, $1,499 for a somewhat Ultegra low-end Carbon bike.
this will be my backup / "Gran Fondo" bike.
Main ride is a just-acquired 2013 TCR SL 1 (aluminum TCR, new old stock).
Will pick it up, get fitted tomorrow. I have brand-new Ultegra WH-6800 wheelset equipped with 6800 Ultegra 11-speed cassette to slap on the Fuji tomorrow. First Fuji. Will see how it is.

Picked up a pair of Bont Vaypor in white/black, so far I love them and love the price I got them for. They fit my feet way better then my S-work ones. (Sorry for my Black and White photo)

Also I did something similar to my Scott Solace adding new lighter stronger wheels(PBW) and replacing the 105 cassette with A Ultegra.
And new saddle and I like wider bars.

bought another bike today (2nd hand) .. mint condition and will use this as my 'shopping bike' .... The LBS will fit new tyres, new cables, new saddle, fenders and a rear pannier rack plus full service .... I have very good panniers that I will fit .... was not a bargain and paid a fair price but I was always after a Kona Dew .... From what I have read, it's much better than a Trek FX .... I collect it next week thursday
(not a pic of mine, but this pic is the same model/colour)

For 2016 Fuji has a 20lbs carbon, ultegra, road bike called Altamira 1.1, it was $1580. It is heavier than my 17lbs Giant TCR aluminim
But the ride of carbon sure dampens road vibrations.
