Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Gonna go with this as my favorite of the bunch- that's a seriously classy mix of old and new(er). I know a lot of the more modern bikes are a blast to ride (and nicer than anything I own) but I can't get over some of the tossed-on parts (like the Oval seatpost on the other Merckx).

As for the Cdale- solid build, fine bike, but pretty boring to look at. Why do you bother owning the Schwinn?

Thanks! I was very happy out the Corsa Extra turned out. The other Merckx is mine as well, but I wouldn't say the the Oval seatpost was tossed-on. I bought the frame/fork and then assembled the rest. The stem/bars/seatpost are all Oval Concepts. If doing it again today I may have gone with 3T or Deda but from a quality standpoint they are all pretty similar.

It's true, it's all pretty similar. I've just spent a lot of time around Fuji/Oval/ASI stuff and have trouble seeing it as anything other than OEM junk (though often very nice OEM junk that shares tech with fancy name brand parts. Ritchey seatposts for instance).

I use it to commute and cruise around the neighborhood when I want to relax. It's heavy but it's built like a tank and is very comfortable and I love the contrast to the aggressive CAAD. I was going for that opposite characteristics to complement each other and that's part of the reason why the reflectors are still on if that even makes any sense . I was going to upgrade the parts but like you said I couldn't find a good reason to do so for my particular purpose. As for the CAAD I do think the murdered out black look is getting tired. I wish I had the blue frame to pair with my red Schwinn. Then it would be perfect.

Prefer the original entry much more than the end product. What saddle is that in the original?

Seems the only things that didn't change in some way were the group, cages, and skewers.

At first I thought they were two different bikes seeing that you have two Fujis. Are you comfortable with that new saddle angle?
