Bicycle trail app
any good apps or maps out there for NYS. Also free campgrounds locations,going to try and do NYC to albany taking the Erie canal to Niagara falls.
Any help would be appreciated.

Google says - Parks & Trails New York :: Erie Canalway Trail Map - for the Erie Canal piece.

I don't think there are many campgrounds between NYC and West Point on the west side of the river unless you want to camp in Harriman State Park itself. Very big climb near Bear Mountain to get to the Bear Mountain bridge, especially with a fully loaded touring bike. Setting off on your first day and encountering that could be a little discouraging. Also big climb out of Nyack before you get to that point.
You might consider taking the bike on Metro North from Grand Central to Poughkeepsie and setting off from there. You have to buy a $5 bike pass at Grand Central (can't be purchased on the train or at other stations).

Thanks for the reply im going to take bike route 17 it has more state and DEC campgrounds that are free
