Ribble has Campy (135) compatible Stronglight rings for a reasonably low amount.

Stronglight Dural 135mm Campagnolo 8/9/10 Chainring - Chainrings - Ribble Cycles

Not quite the same door breaking deal as Nasbar, but not too bad.

Now, if only you put that extra hundred towards free shipping

Plenty of time for checking now that I've received the order! Nothing like the thrill of the endless possibilities that a box from Nashbar provides

Is there a catch to this deal, like soft metal, or rings that aren't very round? I'd be tempted if I rode enough to wear out a ring now and then.

This.

For about 25 years, 53/39 or 52/39 was the standard chainring combination.

The catch is that they are $24.99, not the $7.49 despite the price posted on their website. They are a little crooked it seems to bait and switch.

No, they're discontinued and they're 10 speed rings, which are "outdated".

I think the only bait and switch going on is the person above who alluded to something in this zombie thread being on sale again.

Even at $24, these are a good deal. Arguably outdated for an 11 speed setup according to the Tech specs but many bloggers are successfully using 10 speed rings with 11 speed groups. I use these rings with a 6-speed Shimano 600EX group and 8 speed chain. No problems whatsoever. I've read some claims of soft metal and premature wear. I'm fortunate enough to spread my miles across multiple bikes and doubt I'll ever find out if this is true or not.

I looked on Saturday, and they were on sale for $7.49, Saturday only. No Bait & Switch, just a limited time offer.

I picked a pair up at a similar price through Amazon (Race Face rings) - even came with a set of alloy chainring bolts -

I used them on my recent Miami Vice Centurion project - screaming good deal

Mine came a couple of days ago, destined for my 'modern' bike, a '94 Cannondale R600 running 5600.

Itd be awesome if they suddenly put a compact double ring set for that price.
53/39 is great, for one bike, for rides that arent hilly...so rarely used.

It says they are 9/10 speed chainrings. Will they work with 8 speed?

As long as they are the right bolt circle for your crank, they're fine for 8 speed.

^+1 I'm using with a 6 speed cog and 8 speed chain and these rings work great!

Just bought 2 more this evening. Several future builds planned and at least one set of Bio Pace rings to swap out.

Excuse me but if you are talking to me, I did not resurrect a zombie thread . It was said the chainrings were again on sale. I ordered two sets (actually my wife did) from their site clearly marked at the sale price, she checked out and realized afterwards that the total for the two sets was nearly $60. This was at night so she called the next day and they argued with her that the rings were never priced at that $7.49 (whatever) and therefore we cancelled the order.

Had the checkout process warned her that the price was not $7 but instead $24 then I would not call that bait and switch, just a mistake, but it took the order and charged us nearly $60.

So I do not know what you call that practice but I call it bait and switch, it is a known tactic, run a sale, get a few people to talk it up and then increase the price on checkout once the item gets hot. Yes, many, like us, cancel the order but some just leave it it go. That is bait and switch and that is what happened, intentional or not, but it is usually intentional when this sort of thing goes on.

Actually I was referring to the person who stated they were on sale again only for me to go to the site and find they weren't.

Turns out I was wrong thinking they were not on sale again. They probably were and we've since seen that they do indeed go on sale at this price but it's only for one day. Gotta be quick to react because they're back up to $24 the next day.

They were on sale again today and I just bought two sets at $7.49 each. No tricks from Nashbar which doesn't surprise me. I've never known them be deceptive in their practices.
