I'm going to go with this one for the excellence in photography award.

1956 fully restored vintage schwinn cruiser - $200 (salem)

Bike has been fully restored, as close to original as you can get. Rides smooth and its ready to ride.

May consider partial trade

Serious inquires only

Text only

Assuming it is actually vintage, and not a repro, it looks like a nice bike. But after doing a complete restoration, one would expect the seller to take the time to pull it down out of the rafters and take some quality photos.

Divorce spoils?
Widow?

Looks like a 21st Century repop to me, definitely not a 1956 fork or chainwheel

Here's a '80s:

The tires look similar. If it is a restoration, it wasn't period correct.

The real giveaway is the lame one-piece crank instead of the classic Ashtabula. When that new style came out I could only shake my head at the advances in cost-cutting.

??? Not sure what is different from the (admittedly ugly) one piece crank and 'classic Ashtabula', as Astabula always was a one piece crank.

Edit: One-piece ("Ashtabula") Cranks

Take a close look at the photo that shows most of the crank's features and compare to the blue bike; the smooth chromed finish, the oval cross section of the arms, the snipped-off look of the crank ends just beyond where the pedals thread in and, most importantly, the stub that is welded in place that locates the chainwheel's fixing hole. An old crank will have a graceful and gentler S-curve approaching the BB whereas the new ones are more right-angled to make the turns on both sides of the BB. The old ones have a pebble finish that is evident even through the chrome plating. I was no great fan of one piece cranks but the new ones look like crap by comparison. The old was a genuine one-piece which by comparison is a thing of beauty, while the new is made of two (the crank itself and that stupid stub) welded together and then chromed.

Another bad-photo candidate that might actually be ok for the asking price of $40

Very nice chrome Paramount, but I suspect not $5k nice. (I have no idea why the image doesn't display. It works fine outside BF. Another "upgrade" bug?)

I like Kenda tires, because they offer good value and I'm cheap. But as an 'upgrade'? Maybe as in, "Hey, these don't have holes in them!"

At least the chain matches the seat and pedals!

I noticed that too, a definite giveaway it's not a true Schwinn.

Boy, that's really weird. A promo bike that isn't listed at RARE COLLECTIBLE LOOOK! and priced at 3x market. About once a month we see a $400 folding Marlboro or similar. The fact that you won the bike, or got it from the Mac Tools distributor might make it COLLECTIBLE, but not valuable.

I am a little confused about people's estimations for rider height for bikes they are selling lately. Everybody seems to be an expert, and yet seems to know nothing. I would say 5' 7" or maybe 8" max for this frame. Someone 5' 10" could very nearly stand flat footed while sitting on the saddle of this bike, IMHO?,,,,BD

This may be a nice bike at a nice price. The seller certainly seems to think so. Unfortunately, his flash apparently ran out of batteries before the photo shoot, so we may never know:

$550 seems pretty high for what is essentially a partially ruined Raleigh Competition, and the "custom paint" he brags about is evidenced by a massive drip in the headbadge shot.
