Birthday miles

I have a new take on riding birthday miles. Can you do the consecutive number of pushups equal your age?

Using this system Hundred Pushups

I'm doing 70 now 'I'm 8 under that age' and over 750 a week per the program work outs.

That's stout. I've been doing the 22 pushups for 22 day challenge and thats doable for me at 68. Dont think I could do 68 at one sitting.

I had to stop doing push-ups long ago, due to an old elbow injury.

Should be the inverse. Or is this the new math?

I don't think I have ever been able to do five pushups consecutively in my whole life. At my current age of 65, I'm pretty sure I haven't done that many pushups in total since I was born. Just have never had any upper body strength. Now, my legs and torso? That's another matter. Maybe why I've always been a cyclist and never a swimmer.

I don't think I've done a single push-up since my basic training days over 30 years ago. If I tried to do 52 push-ups today, I'd probably die after about 6 to 8 of them.

I could probably do half my age, but I would be sore for a couple of days.

My b-day is next month, and instead of doing my miles, I'm thinking about doing half, then go ride my mtn bike on my regular trail route.

I need to get up to Astoria one of these days, buy you a few, and listen to your stories.

You can help me pick the northern most start of the Oregon Coast Range Divide Route. I have the parts closest to me mostly planned out. Maybe 20 miles or so. I have a lot of work to do.

At 53, I could do the push ups challenge more easily than the bike ride. At least this time of year when riding 30 miles is a pretty good day. Maybe I should do more than just commute.

I started last Nov and I knew it wasn't going to be good. So I started doing push-up from against a counter top. I did as many as I could every few days, around 100 each day for the month. Each month after that I moved to a lower counter and repeated, as many as I could. Buy spring I was 12 inches off the floor, then six inches. When I try 100 pushup I could do 40 off the floor. Your pulling about 75% of your weight at this point. I weigh 200 pounds. This way I wasn't in over my head and felt like I was improving.

I can generally do 50, so

could get there with a little extra work.
