old MTB Bulmoose handlebar fix

I found a classic old MTB from the 80's with bulmoose handle bar and quill stem welded together, is there any way to raise these with an adapter, I could use a couple of inches height?

I had never thought about but just searched wedge stem extender and this came up. https://www.amazon.com/Sunlite-Cromo.../dp/B016QRRIBO Did not look at details but says three separate sizes and probably can find on the bay as well. If you have a Ross Mt Whitney or other model the Ross is an odd size if I recall so you will want to verify size is made.

What he recommends will work, with two caveats: the first, as he mentioned, is the stem diameter. I had one of the old Ross MTB bars and it was .833 (21.1) diameter, so you'll need to measure yours to be sure if it is that or the more common 22.2. Some early Schwinn MTBs and other brands used the same size. The second issue is how much your bar will be raised using the extender he linked to. You mentioned a couple of inches, but the ad text states 8.25 inches, which may be way more lift than you want, or that may just be the length of the extender and the actual lift is less. Just something to be aware of. Good luck!
