You could probably get a Titanium from China/Taiwan w/ branded components and some carbon wheels for $1,500 in total. Can get Titanium GR9 frame from China, handbuilt, w/ tapered headtube, internal cabling etc for $700. I couldn't care less if it was made in Colorado or not, his prices are absurd and moronic considering a $400 Chinese carbon will outperform it in every conceivable way, stiffness, compliance, weight and aero.

Oh I guess I wasn't clear. How it looks is subjective. I hate how newer colnagos or Pinarellos look with a passion. A lot of people seem to love them. To each his own. I love the look and I don't care who thinks what of it. What we can agree on is that it's overpriced AF.

I honestly have ZERO idea about the brand but I love this frame cause etap specific (no unnecessary holes) and internal brake cable routing. I just love the clean look. I was honestly expecting the email to say $1000 or something. I'm looking for a cheaper non carbon frame with similar specifications. I was shocked to hear $5500 hence why I was upset.

Anyway. I'm absolutely not interested in paying that much for a titanium frame. If anyone can point me to a similar build (hidden brake cables and no shift cable guides internal or external) that's not outrageously priced, I'm very interested.

I noticed the frame did look rather clean and neat, but wasn't quite so attuned to realize why. Thinking no holes, guides or mounts of any kind, the first thing that comes to mind is a track frame.

Plenty of custom builders will be happy to do that for you in steel or aluminum for a much more reasonable price. If it must be titanium, you're backing yourself into a corner.

Check out Lynskey. They have stock frames (standard frame sizes), programs to modify those stock frames, and fully custom options. I've got a bit over 700 hours on mine since August of 2014 and have loved every second.

Just had this conversation with my son a few days ago in the truck. He stated how fast I would be on my new bike because it's so expensive (he does not know the price, but he assumes it's expensive). I told him that is one of the many beauty's of this sport. It is not about the ride, but more so the motor. The person pedaling the bike is what makes all the difference. I can not count on 2 hands how many times I have seen someone on a new ridiculously priced bike get dusted by another on a 15 year old bike with "outdated" technology . Just keep pedaling what you like

Titanium doesn't "have" to be expensive. $1600, a little acetone, and bam... No one will know the difference.

Not in the least. About 60 hrs. of work went into my Engin ($3,500 when I got mine a few years ago.) That's less than $60/hr. for labor alone.


You may not be able to afford expensive things and/or are too cheap to spend that kind of money, but that does not mean every high price is an insane price.

Maybe you missed it. This is for a second bike that I'm not willing to spend too much money on. I already stated that. I understand my first post might have been confusing because I posted a expensive as hell bike. I sure as hell not be buying that. I'm not trying to diminish his work or the value of the bike it's just that for what I'm looking for, it's just too much. I have no issue pouring 10k on a bike. Just not into a steel bike that'll be half ridden hard and half be in a pile of junk on Caltrain while I commute to work with it.

Anyway. Thanks for the suggestion anyway. You are right I'm not looking to spend that kind of money. I'm sure they are amazing bikes.
