So in addition to the normal tools/supplies (tube, tire levers, pump, multi-tool, bus schedule etc.) what do you carry specifically for your e-bike? I was thinking of adding zip ties (probably a good idea in the non e-bike tool kit too), electrical tape, maybe wire cutter/stripper. Anything else?

I can ride easily in pedal only mode or in electric only mode, so I have redundancy there. Switching over to tubeless tires to prevent flats (well, most of them at least).

I have a hub motor, so that is pretty maintenance free. I've overheated a controller, and I've had a cheap chinese hub motor wheel build disintegrate on me, so those two were a problem. A repair kit wouldn't help me too much (Actually, an appropriate sized spoke wrench would have saved me with the wheel problem.

Allen keys that fit the bike, a small screwdriver for the derailleur, patch kit, Park Tools nifty little CO2 widget from their MT-20 https://tinyurl.com/ybo6s6mu , and a couple of threaded CO2 cartridges. I used to carry tire irons but found that my tires can be worked over the rim by hand without a hassle. My bikes frequently get a good visual inspection and are prepped and tight, so I usually don’t carry more in the tool bag. If I’m riding somewhere against the clock, I will add a spare tube because it’s faster than patching. A cell phone and credit card are my backup. This is for pavement riding. If I was riding deep into the woods, I’d add more to cover the stuff that typically breaks from the pounding.

I have so much stuff, I don't even know. All kinds of tubes, pump, wrenches, etc. Since I got the motor, I don't really care how much I carry in my pannier(s.) Even at that, I hope I never have to change a flat on rear where the hub resides. I've done it at home... but it would be miserable to do in the cold, wet, and dark.

Wrench, tire iron, pump, spare tube. All I've needed for eight years of commuting. No electric-specific items, none required for almost three years.

Trouble-free operation was a design focus.

Pump, tire levers, tubes, patch kit and a multitool. I have spare zipties in the handlebars of every bike I own, as well as a quicklink. I don't need an adventure trip worthy toolkit when I'm commuting, I have a phone in case it all goes south.
