Will shedding 1lb of belly fat have the same results as taking 1lb off my bike?

It is in the form of a riddle.
There are three men in a boat with two cigarettes and no matches - How do they smoke?
Answer: Throw one cigarette over board and make the boat a cigarette lighter.

Losing a pound off the belly will be an advantage 100% of the time. A pound off the bike is an advantage only when you are riding.

For no apparent reason this made me think of a joke from the old Batman series from the sixties.

Tell me about it. When I go home after a rigorous workout I'll eat everything in the fridge. Seems like it just stimulates my appetite too much.

Really? A long hard effort on the bike will make me lose my appetite. I'll be ravished the next day, but I have to force myself to eat something shortly after.

It is a trick question, you can't spot reduce and Lose a pound of fat from the belly only.

If you can tell the difference between a full and empty water bottle or two ...
FWIW, I have found a 10 pound loss is equivalent to being able to ride up an 8% grade in the next highest gear. (This doesn't deconvolve weight loss from strength gain, but since I am 54, I think it is primarily weight loss.)

if I go for a ride on my 17lb bike on monday and I weigh 200lb all geared up and ready to ride
then friday I go for a ride on my 18lb bike and I take a 1lb dump prior to the ride I will be ~1lb~ lighter at 199lb
it will still take the same amount of watts to move me and the bike since combined we are still 217lbs, fitness has nothing to do with it. everyone seems to want to assume it will take training and etc to lose a pound and you'll be stronger because of it. with regard to whether weight loss on the bike versus the rider (all else being equal) will be a net gain/loss of zero.
