I checked some brochures. These are Swedish market brochures and there might have been things happening in other markets that does not apply.
1971
Crescent:
62 Himmelsblå (sky blue)
66 Transparent blå (transparent blue)
1974
Monark:
66 Kungsblå transparent (kings/royal blue transparent)
72 Kristallblå (crystal blue) = (Monark 70ies ”competition” blue)
1975
Crescent:
(No littera number given)
Kungsblå
Kristallblå
This would suggest that Monark and Crescent shared the 66 and 72 and that you could get a Crescent in either kungsblå or kristallblå in the mid 70ies. You could however not get a Monark in “Crescent orange” no 82. Only in lysorange (light orange) no 23 – not the same colour as no 82.

That's affirm.

Regarding colours -
Purchased a new (1) Monark model 320 in 1971 from my local dealer. The store stocked model 319 and model 320 but not model 318. Both models were available in a choice of three colours that time. Blue with dark red trim, white with blue trim and (1) orange with white trim.
In addition to being sold as Monark and Crescent brands the same cycles were also sold as Skandia brand, fairly rare.
(2) Regarding the drop bolt needed to mount Campag brakes - I found that the standard Campag drop bolt did not give enough drop and the dealer was used to this so they has some local person make up drop bolts with a greater drop.

2/ Interesting again! I have had five Crescents 320ies that have come to me with a Campag drop bolt (one being shown on page 1 in this thread) . I wonder if there could have been a difference made for exports?

Regarding the drop bolt - it has been more than forty-five years so I could be off on my memory but as I recollect the Campag bolt gave something like 6mm and the bike required something like 8mm. The custom bolts the store proprietor had made gave something like 10mm.
Regarding the orange colour - I also purchased from the same dealer an orange model 305.
Three or four years later the dealer had an assortment of Monark models in a cream colour. There were things like two-speed kickbacks and exercycles in this livery.

I guess that when it comes to colours on the top bikes Crescent and Monark felt a lot more free when exporting. In Sweden Crescent is orange and Monark is blue when a 320/319 - thru their amateur bike teams. It started way back and has stuck in every Swedes head. Abroad that does not apply and they could do other stuff without loosing brand awereness.

My local store in California did direct importation from Varberg. The bicycles did not go through a distributor. The proprietor of the store was an American married to a Swede so they could carry on business in Svensk.

Does that mean they could have made special orders (colours) via their direct import from Varberg? I have been looking at these bikes here in Sweden - 320/319 - at least since 1984-5 and I have never seen any other colours than orange and blue on these - here.
edit - I imagine the guys and girls at the factory would have loved to spray and line them in other colours after years of the same. ;-) I would have.

Have no idea if store was able to make special orders. They sold Monark and no Crescent. Proprietor now deceased so cannot inquire.
Will keep an eye out for Monark private sales here in California. Next white or orange one which comes up shall attempt to save the images.

Two questions for you following the thread:
1) Anyone know if a Campy seat binder bolt would have been stock? This thing came with a big honking bolt that's, well, ugly.
2) For those who have a Crescent, was there clear over the decals from the factory?
Thanks!

2). No clear coat over my decals. Frame looks factory original. PO was the OO.

Decals arrived from Australia yesterday yay! Frame off to powder as soon as I can.
Now that I have rim decals I can get those applied and rebuild the wheels.

I am also in the middle of restoring my 1972 Crescent, unfortunately not as nice as the one you are doing as mine is the base model that cam with the one piece Fauber crank. However, quick question as to regarding the paint.
What shade of Orange are you respraying the frame with?
Thanks

I have never seen covers like this, what exactly would the purpose be?

2) Maybe "pad" the lever a little? Better grip than just metal?
3) Look cool?

Wheels laced up!
And the initial tensioning by getting all the threads buried in the nipples. They're pretty damned true, front looks to have a bit of a hop, should be easy. As is my typical I screwed the lacing on the first shot at the front. I lace up wheels about every 4 years...amazing what one rim hole off does by the time you get to the second set of leading spokes . Rear went fine the first time. All I've ever used is Sheldon brown's guide...always works for me.
Campy Record high flange, A.V.A. tubular rims double eyelet, new rim decals from Cyclomondo. EDIT: Oh, and Sapim double butted 14/15/14 SS spokes from childhood_dreams on eBay. Lee is a great guy, highly recommended

Go, go, go. I had my 92319 out Sunday for a spin and will again tomorrow for 40 miles or so. Yipee!! Rode "as dry leaves before the hurricane fly..." That bike just likes for me to get down in the drops.
