2 hrs ride yesterday with 2x12 @230-240w, missed coaches comments since he wanted me to do 3x10 @225-235w
Next Monday ftp test, just did ftp test 4 weeks ago. I guess i'll get used to the FTP testing if I want to compete in TT next season

There’s no crying in baseball, and no stopping in bike racing.
Seriously though, if I’m doing a long ride then I want to improve endurance, and I think stopping less is better in that regard.
With larger groups the stops just take ****ing forever, and the chances someone will flat are greatly increased. And the chances someone needs to pee are also increased. Really I hate bigger group rides.

4 years ago when I started riding, I would try to ride with every darn group I could find. Now I just want to ride 5 hrs solo or with just 1/3 folks.

did a zwift race today, 1hr @ 94%, had my highest 60min power for 2017. hopefully the winter will actually bring gains rather than catching up for the entire year lol

Welp, got home and checked the address for the end of season thing. It's tomorrow... Oops. Would have stayed out longer had I known that.
1 Strava KOM attempt (failed, can't get this one!) and then 4x~4minute hill repeats. My FTP is outside is no where near my ftp inside right now. Usually they stay pretty close together, but not this year.
CTL still gaining, and the sinus infection isn't bugging me much anymore. Few more days of antibiotics just in case.

Commuting / no driving streak is over at 10 days, Santa Ana's were gusting up to 50 and with a local fire it just wasn't in the cards.

Headed out for 2x30' at Fiesta this morning, hot and dry out there even at 6:45. I have no idea what to aim for on these right now as this is the second week of my first (block) back on the horse, so-to-speak.
Hit the first one slightly high and then did 10 w higher on the second without too much strain, nice! Will continue to finish out this block 'by ear' and then formally test the week of 11/13 to give me a baseline for base training, with one block in the bag already.

Aiming for 3x15 @ 104% but legs didn't want anything to do with it today. Aborted after the first rep, gonna do some openers tomorrow and aim for 4x15 @ 100% Friday.

Crashed super hard saturday. Bars clipped a tree so up and over them did I go. Wasn't going too fast, but I did some damage to my ribs on the left side. No surface bruising but def some sharp piercing pain when I move certain ways. Not fun.
So coach had me do 6x10sec sprints, and if I felt ok after that, 3x10min fartlek sweet spot intervals (yes, I giggle every time I read fartlek). At no point did I not feel pain today, but finished the ride anyway.
This weekend is supposed to be some very cyclocrossy weather, so I'm kinda hesitant to race with an injury when there's a good chance I'll at least slip out or fall a few times. But who am I kidding? I'm still likely to race.

2x30' @ 90-ish. I ride with a buddy and we're the same size and ride nearly identical bikes so he poaches my power data. We picked up a drafter for a bit, but whatever, just don't crash into me and mess up my flow.

2:45 of z2.
It was hard. Actual steady z2 is always hard.
Put the PT hub back on, back with power for the winter - when it matters most.

3x20 at sweet spot yesterday on the trainer over 90 minutes. Was not as bad as they have been recently. Heart rate stayed low until the end of the last one.
I've changed my diet up (again). Larger carb heavy breakfast and cut the dinner back a little bit. We will see if it helps. First sign is yes.

2 hours on the trainer. 3x20. 1 minute breaks half way through each 20 with 8 min rest between sets. My ftp is definitely higher than it was or something. These are getting easier. Maybe I'm just getting back in shape after the time off.

Did the usual opener routine for the races this weekend, but holy hell did getting back on the bike hurt baaaad. Decided to pull the plug on racing, would have been a 2.5 hr+ drive each way and a hotel stay, so I'll stay home and get in a good weekend of training.
Hate missing out on races, and the two this weekend are always really well run. FOMO!

i've been zwifting a lot, did three races this week, but not for the entire duration (which would be an hour+ for me). Considering my current cx focus, I've kept it to 30-40mins, so as to get in intensity but not leave my legs feeling it for the races. My ctl hovers from 50-55 lately and tsb around 0. Two cross races this weekend and two next

2x14-15 with 9min between, #1@102%, #2@107%. Then chilled for a bit and did 1x20 @ 95% on rolling flattish ground. The first one actually felt pretty awful and I almost aborted 7 minutes in. The second one felt significantly easier. Training is weird!

Classic 2x20 workout at threshold on some hills outside. First one was dead on. Within 2 watts of where I think my ftp is outside. Second one was going really well until about 17 minutes in when I ran out of road... Oops.
Ride was about 1 hour before hour after. During the ride to the hill my power meter battery died. They always die 20 minutes in. Not at home, or after your intervals, but just far enough away that you have to figure out what to do. I got it all figured out though. Then I double flatted on the way back to the apartment, but had everything I needed to get those fixed and get home.
Cross tomorrow!

Did a 2x30' based on feel this morning and damned if it didn't come within a few watts of what I'd been targeting lately.

All your threshold workouts are making me feel bad. I didn't end up getting back into training before vacation. Leaving for Thailand tomorrow night. So Ill probably freak out shortly after getting back at likr 10 CTL.

It's not that fast. When I broke my leg June 27, my CTL was 79; when I got back on the trainer a month later, it was 39.

Cross today. Rode the train down and about 5 miles to the race. 45 minutes of hell on this techy single track then about 30 minutes of riding around afterwards. 3rd week of cross racing in a row I would be faster on my trail bike.
On a different note, the risers for my tt bike showed up today from germany. Anyone mind to take a look? I think the position is much better than before. @tetonrider. This is the 60mm risers, I also got the 10 and the 20 (which I can put together to make 30). When I was putting this one together, I noticed I had two of the same side of pad holder. So for now my pads aren't even until I can source a replacement set.. Have to run one 'backwards'.
EDIT: After looking.. apparently 3t just has different clamps for when you have the bars on extensions or on the basebar. Why? I don't know... Now I have to source another goddamn part..
For context, here is the zero riser position

The best part of riding is going out and doing what you want to do. I no longer race, but when I did a set of Ze Cannon's (5 minutes on hard, one minute off, do 6 times) was soul cleansing. Now I just want to do a couple of hours of easy Zone 2 and all of that really painful stuff is just a memory.

Got 2hrs of unstructured riding coming home from my kid's soccer tournament. Half on surface streets, half on the bike trail. Was pretty nice.
691 tss for the week, which is not too shabby for this time of year.
