And TMonk, You're good man, I totally hear ya and was of a similar mindset originally but had a chance to chat with coach and reflect on it a bit.

I found Sasha's Strava.. And yeah, I'd agree. I may not know the guy, but it was definitely not good sportsmanship or positive outlook lol.
Just realized another huge benefit of having a 3d printer. Number holder I've got my or may not work. So I'll just print another one!
Also got my tt bike fixed.. The day before I leave lol. Typical for my race weekends. Panic to get it all together at the last minute.

Finished up the long drive into Phoenix and took the tt bike out on the course to preride. Going to be a fast one tomorrow if the winds hold like they were today. Wheels felt great and think I'm set up right for tomorrow. Just a bit of suffering to start off road season 18!
Doge , saw a bunch of the Lux kids and mechanics out there. The mechanics parked in front of me were nice people!

I'd be curious to see how the LUX women do and how the 15 year old does vs the pro women (maybe a win). Again (as in 2017 and I think there was 1 in 2016), no women in the 17-18 women category at all. Any that age are doing the Women's category's. I think that W17-18 category needs to be scrapped. Seems sexist to do so so they keep it there - empty, or worse with 1-2 riders in it.

This was interesting. Is he on a MTB, or Stages PM - Mike Santillanes Feb 16, 2018 26.6mi/h 187bpm 577W for 30 min.

Course was FLYING on the way back. I ended up having to dial it back a bit on the way out cause I was redlining at about mile 3, but held the speed. Was just trying to punch every small roller and it wasn't going to be good if I tried to hold that. Passed 5 people I think on the way out. I'm 8th on GC and 1.5 min back. Should be fun tomorrow.
Not a bad first go at a "real" time trial with gear and good competition. Need to work on my TT position real bad.

My TT was.. much longer than yours, I’m guessing. No TT bike + no TT legs = I got passed. A lot.
Sadly, I went hard and paced ok. Just crossing my fingers I wasn’t last lol.

Did some real quick analysis based on results this year vs last year in a few cats.. (lots of free time on stage race weekends..). It looks like conditions got faster as the day went on.
wktmeow do you have a picture of your tt position? Based on the data on your strava and standing next to you, you went a lot faster than me on nearly the same watts. We're about the same size too. You muse be pretty slippery!

Something I see a lot of, with me having lots of free time and not racing. There is a guy out there yesterday that did 577W and 26mph for 30min - according to Strava. Of course, I don't believe that was what was really done, but that illustrates how hard it is going to be to chase this one down. Esp looking at pictures etc.

The wind died down a bit too.
Ttoc yea I have a pretty good position and tried to minimize my rolling resistance. No side photos atm but maybe someone took some in our race. I was mostly just staring at the patch of road 6 ft in front of me so I didn't notice if we had photographers out there haha.
I was honestly surprised I got it, felt like I had bad legs and power was like 20w below target but it looks like I just went really fast on the way back.

What a day. Stage 2 RR, 78 miles. Had my eyes targetting a particular rider wanting to handle him in someway. Countered his attack on the first lap up the hill and ended up in a break of 3, bridge to a 4th, drop him and then pick up 3 more including the triathlete I was concerned about and one of wktmeow 's teammates. When the tri guy came across I knew the break was going to be hell. He was surgy and I knew that the gc teams would pull it back, not wanting to let a threat dangle like that. But I thought there might have been a chance. Rode hard in the break and got caught with 1 lap + the hill to go. So all in all, just about 2h ours of riding in a reduced group dealing with surges and winds.
Sat in and staved off some cramps (got my nutrition dead on for not having access to a proper feed). End of race break went with a friend from back home in Seattle in it. And I honestly expected that to come back too, but it didn't. Gave a suicide attack with 2k to go but didn't even have the legs to get a gap. Lost time on GC as the (very) reduced group passed but idgaf. I put it on the line to try to make up some gc time and it didn't work. And I still beat the triathlete at the line.
Happy with performance, wish the result could have been better. Doing great for it being february. Now to eat all the calories!
