What to do with a broken frame-Other than repair

This is not specific to Classic and Vintage but I figure that folks who love classic and vintage bikes are more likely to have dealt with a beloved steel bike that broke. So, I am asking here. Other than taking a steel bike to a scrapper, what have you done with an old, unrideable bike? I looked at the cost of repairs and it was close to the cost of a new frame and certainly more than readily available used vintage frames. I am tired of it taking up room in my shed but I am a bit attached to this one and would love some ideas for keeping it around.

For the record, it is a 2002 Soma Double Cross that broke at the right drop out/chainstay junction. I rode that bike all over the place and dressed it up in a variety of ways but it has been broke for six years and I am just not going to fix it.

Could you have somebody weld it up and use it for an indoor trainer bike? If it breaks again, no biggie. Other than that, indoor or outdoor ornament.

Build it up and display it prominently in your house (assuming you have room). That way, you can look at it longingly and remember all the wonderful rides you had.

More destructive solution: I've seen broken frames turned into all kinds of strange art. Any inclination to do a DIY art project? This would be a golden opportunity.

Have a retirement ceremony for it in your bike workshop at home. Pull it up with rope into the rafters as you play the movie Breaking Away.

Got any photos of the break? I don't see why it can't be welded, it's just metal. Any good welder should be able to fix it for little $

Turn it into a white bike to honor a fallen cyclist?

The tab on the dropout snapped off in the slot on the chainstay. I took it to a local framebuilder (who is no longer local) and he said the dropout would need to be replace. I don't know if welding it would work. I suppose I don't have much to lose, though.

I would get a 2nd and 3rd opinion at least. I have had frame repairs that were deemed pointless by one then embraced by another, you just have to find the right "expert".

Get a steelbender and turn the tubes into handlebars or cut them open and turn them into fenders.
