I do think Froome will work with Thomas because the outcry from the world would be deafening. But we'll see.
Froome is in a difficult situation. He doesn't absolutely have to pull back time on Dumoulin before the TT, but I'm sure he'd like to. If Dumoulin has the legs on Friday, he will follow any aggressive move Froome makes to protect his advantage. Even if Dumoulin is on a great day Friday, with the down hill finish, I just can't see him being able to pick up time. Sky is just too strong and the likelihood of Froome and Thomas having an off day is very remote imo. Froome really only has a chance to gain significant time on Dumoulin if Tom has a bad day himself. He's shown that he has the ability to at least stay in touch with the Sky train. We'll see. Hopefully we'll have a few surprises.

Even by some slim chance something should happen to Thomas, the win would go to Dumoulin.

Froomie doesn't stand a chance.

So GT picked up something like 20 secs in time bonuses over the tour, more than enough to cancel out his deficit in the ITT. I think he played it pretty smart.

It ain't over .... until all the drugs samples have been analyzed, the right ones buried, the wrong ones tampered with, and the whole thing leaked before any investigation.... and Bardet wins, because he is French.

Then, in three years, the lawyers will tell us who they let win.

So why do you bother?

Why do you waste 3 weeks of summer caring and watching and posting and just tossing around unfounded tthoughts and theories? Go find something else to waste your time on then. Stop the freakin drug talk already. What else do you want these riders to go through? No other sport is tested like these guys are.

I get so tired of hearing it. I just want to enjoy the event and the sport. If somebody comes up dirty, so be it, but until then, let us enjoy the effort and the glory of it all.

I was just wondering when was the last time if ever the Yellow Jersey was contested on the Champs. Aside from the sprint I only remember the last stage as ceremonial.

1987

The final stage is too flat for GC contenders to make up any time.

The sprinters teams will keep the pace high to discourage any break aways.

By your reasoning, all of the flat stages are ceremonial since there is no change in the GC.

Not really the same thing all the earlier flat stages don't have champagne toasts or team photo ops but I see your point.

1987 was the year Stephen Roche won and like this year stage 20 was an ITT. It wasn't contested in Paris.

89 was the year LeMond made up his deficit to Figmon on the final stage - ITT to win yellow by 8 secs. I still have my crappy VCR copy of that ride telecast. IIRC the race was covered by ABC sports network in the US at that time.
